  • Chandigarh, September 15 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal made a clarion call to the people to propagate the teachings of great martyr Baba Banda Singh Bahadur so that the future generations could take inspiration from his life. After the formation of present government in the state, we have taken several steps in this direction, he added.
  • Mr Manohar Lal was speaking at Dera Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in district Reasi of Jammu and Kashmir today. 
  • Earlier, he paid floral tributes to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and paid obeisance at Gurudwara situated in the dera.
  • The Chief Minister said when we took over the reign of government in the state we have not only apprised the people about the glorious history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur but also setup Lohgarh Foundation for the development of Lohgarh in district Yamunanagar, the Capital of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
  • While maintaining a direct dialogue with the gathering, the Chief Minister said to popularize the teachings of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur has been installed in Mandi House, Delhi and a war memorial has been set up in Chapparchiri, Punjab.  Though various places has been developed and gurudwaras  have been constructed in his memory in this period of 300 years, but lot more needs to be done to pay real tributes to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, he added.
  • The Chief Minister said that as Baba Banda Singh Bhadur has penanced in this area, participation of local people should be ensured so as to apprise the people about his glorious history. He also suggested that a mela of two-three days should be organized every year at Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in Reasi in his memory so that large number of people from Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir could participate. He also suggested that hospitals, schools, community halls etc should be constructed in this area so that large number of people could avail benefits.
  • On the demand concerning the area, the Chief Minister said that he had received a letter in this regard which he forwarded to Governor Jammu and Kashmir. Now he has been informed that the letter would be sent to the Deputy Commissioner concerned for executing the works. 
  • Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a school at Naushera to be constructed in the name Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
  • Earlier, speaking on this occasion, National Coordinator of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Trust Mr Shiv Shankar Pahwa thanked the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for promoting the teachings of Baba Banda Bahadur in Haryana. He said that Baba Banda Bahadur penanced in this area from 1713-1715 and himself set up this dera.
