  • Chandigarh, Sept 17–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the state government has set up hospitals, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres and dispensaries to provide health service to people of the State. He called upon the social organisations to come forward to join the government’s efforts to make better health services accessible to 2.7 crore people of the state.
  • The Chief Minister was speaking at a mega free health check-up camp organised under ‘Ek Muhim-Ek Lakshya’ at ITB Foundation Shri Ram Global School in Karnal, today. He inaugurated the camp by lighting a lamp.
  • He said “Today is the birthday of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, and it would be celebrated as Service Week from September 17 to 25. We need 27,000 doctors whereas only 13,000 doctors are working in government and private institutions of the state. Therefore, medical colleges would be opened in all districts. This would help meet the shortage of doctors in the next ten years.
  • The Chief Minister said Mr Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to facilitate the poor. Under this scheme, health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh would be provided to poor families. This scheme would be launched in the entire country on September 23.
  • The state government has been providing 570 medicines free of cost in government hospitals. Since the number of OPD patients has been increasing assistance of social organisations is needed, he added.
