  • Chandigarh, Oct 10 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today  said that the Khatik Samaj is the symbol of pride and bravery  and urged progressive and leading people of  the Samaj to follow the spirit of Antyodaya and take the initiative  to bring the people in the mainstream,  who have socially and economically lagged behind.
  • The Chief Minister was interacting with people of Khatik Samaj who had come from all over the state, here today. The people of this community had exhibited great valor  during the attacks made by invaders in past on our country, he added.
  • The Chief Minister accepted their demand for naming a roundabout of any city or a block of any educational institution, in the name of their spiritual guru, Sant Shiromani Durbal Nath. He also assured to provide proper representation to the people of the community in District Grievances Redressal Committee.
  • The Chief Minister  urged  the people of the community to  give better education to their children along with skill development training. He said that the state government has established Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University in Palwal, in which over 800 short term certified courses would be run to increase the employability skills  of the youth.
  • He said that  in the present government only meritorious  candidates are getting jobs. He said that in the last recruitment of about 4,500 police personnel, more than fifty per cent of the candidates were qualified  more than the required educational qualifications. He said that recently, about 19,000 group D posts have been advertised and the recruitment of Group C and D posts were being made without conducting any interview.
  • The people of the community expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for inviting them.
  • The Chief Minister also sought suggestions for improvement in school education. He said that where ever, there is shortage of teachers or infrastructure in schools,  they should bring it to the notice of government. He asked the parents of Khatik Samaj to actively participate in Parents Teacher Meeting in schools of their wards.

  • Chandigarh, October 10 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today directed the Vice Chancellors of the universities, Principals of the colleges of the state, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to ensure adequate  safety and  security arrangements during the students' union elections on October 17, 2018 in the state colleges and universities, so that elections are conducted smoothly and peacefully.
  • The Chief Minister was addressing them through a video conferencing at Chandigarh today.  The Education Minister Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education, Mrs. Jyoti Arora and Director General of Police, Mr B. S. Sandhu were also present during the Video Conferencing.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said that after a long period of 22 years, the present government has taken initiative to conduct the students' union elections in the state.  No other previous government ever considered about  conducting the elections  of the students' union. He said that on the basis of the recommendations of the report of Lyngdoh Committee,  the Students Election if conducted after a  very long period, which is 22 years in Haryana,  these can be conducted   only indirectly.  This year, the Government has decided to conduct it as per the recommendations of the Committee. He instructed the officers  to ensure that full security and safety measures are taken  for smooth and peaceful conduct of student's union elections like that of  Panchayati Raj Institutions.
  • Prof. Ram Bilas Sharma said that the primary task of district administration and police would be to ensure that the elections are held peacefully. It should also be ensured that anti-social elements are prevented  to enter any educational institution so as to avoid any untoward incident. For this, the CCTV cameras should be installed at the educational institutions and the entire election process should be videographed. In addition, a state-level control room has been established for providing assistance.
  • The Chief Minister was apprised that the student union elections will be held in all the 293 colleges affiliated to all the state universities.  About 4.50 lakh students are likely to participate in these election. The students desirous to contest    for Class Representatives would have to submit their nominations in their respective colleges.  The elections would be held in those colleges and universities which are functional for the last more than three years.  This year the elections would not be held  in B.Ed colleges.
  • Chandigarh, October 10- Another girl  from Haryana, Ekta Bhyan has made India proud by clinching India’s fourth gold medal at the Asian Para Games-2018  in Jakarta, Indonesia.
  • Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today congratulated  Ekta Bhyan on winning Gold medal in the women's club throw event at the Asian Para Games-2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. “You have made the nation proud with your superb performance,” said the Chief Minister.
  • Ekta Bhyan has created history by bagging India’s fourth gold at the Asian Para Games-2018. She topped in the women’s club throw event. Ekta scored her best throw in her fourth attempt, 16.02m, winning the F32/51 event. Ekta was ahead of UAE’s Alkaabi Thekra, who threw 15.75m.
  • Ekta is Haryana’s first and second Indian woman to win Gold medal in Para Athletics at Asian Para Games.  
  • Earlier this year, she had bagged one gold and one bronze medal in club throw and discus throw at World Para Athletic Grand Prix in Tunisia. Now, she is eyeing to win a medal for the country in the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 10–  The 32nd World Conference of World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) conference will be organised at Gurugram on 11 and 12 October which will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr Purushottam Rupala. A total of 18 countries from five continents, embassies and diplomatic officers from 16 countries and over 50 Indian delegates from different State Agricultural Marketing Boards of India will be participating in the event.
  • Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr Sanjay Aggarwal, Chairman, WUWM, Mr Zengjun Ma, would also be present in the opening ceremony.
  • Today the Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Smt Navraj Sandhu reviewed the arrangements of the world conference at the venue, Hotel Westin in sector 29 Gurugram.
  • She said that this is for the first time a conference of WUWM is being organised in India at Gurugram, Haryana, under the theme “The Wholesale Markets in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities." The conference is being hosted jointly by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), Panchkula and the National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (COSAMB), New Delhi with World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM), Hague, Netherlands.
  • The keynote speaker of the ceremony will be Prof Nilesh Dattani, London School of Economics, London . The aim of the conference is to exchange information and knowledge between members, as well as with other public or private bodies regarding wholesale and retail markets. Discussions under single roof would benefit the practitioners in search of ideas on the appropriate model to apply in their respective countries. The conference would offer a strategy and comprehensive knowledge of the global wholesale market industry, support members in the operation and promotion of their markets.  
  • She said that in order to achieve the objective of the conference, sessions would be organised on topics such as Modernisation, New Technologies, Market Networking, e-NAM, Reshaping Markets, Supply Chain Efficiency, Market Reforms and Market Integration.
  • The foreign delegates along with the Indian delegates would also visit the Fruit and Vegetable Market, Azadpur, Delhi, which is the biggest Fruit and Vegetable market in Asia, registered in Limca Book of Records for  its highest volume of fruit and vegetables handled, she added.
  • The delegates would also be taken to APMC Sonepat to see the live demonstration of e-NAM (Electronic-National Agricultural Market), which is one of the largest pan India electronic trading platform in the world connecting more than 500 markets of India covering 16 States and two Union Territories connecting 100 million farmers selling their agricultural produce.
  • The  delegates would also be taken for a visit to India International Horticulture Market (IIHM), Ganaur, Sonepat which is going to be developed by Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) to attract international investment from different parts of the world. The IIHM is being developed on 537.6 acres area on National Highway No.1 near Delhi Border. It is being developed into a destination, where produce is transported from producer end for its distribution after value addition to domestic, country wide and export markets. The market is designed to be one of the largest market in the country.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 10– Haryana Government will set up Government Homeopathic College in Ambala Cantt, on 11 acres 5 Kanal and 19 Marlas land of Gram Panchayat, Manglai.
  • In this regard, Haryana Chief Minister has approved the proposal of Gram Panchayat to give AYUSH department, 11 acres 5 Kanal and 19 Marlas land of Gram Panchayat, Manglai under Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Rules, 1964, of Rule 6(5) for setting up the Homeopathic College. This land would be leased for 33 years at the rate of Re. one per acre per year.
  • Chandigarh, October 10- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today paid obeisance and perform Yajna on the first day of Ashwin Navratri at Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine complex in Panchkula. The Chief Minister prayed to continue to serve the people of the state with the sentiment of Haryana Ek Haryanvi Ek.
  • The Chief Minister extended his best wishes and greetings  to the people of the state, on the occasion Navratri and prayed that may goddess Mata Mansa Devi fulfill all their wishes.
  • The Chief Minister said that like every year, he has come today to pay his obeisance at the shrine. He said that every year, pilgrims from all over the country come here to pay their obeisance to fulfill their wishes.
  • On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the newly renovated staircase and shed at the cost of Rs 50 lakh at the main entrance of the shrine and laid the foundation stone of Vatika and double corridor at the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine complex.
  • He also released the logo of Municipal Corporation, Panchkula and a book on road safety. In this booklet, new guidelines have been prepared for road safety.
  • Those present included MP, Ambala, Mr. Rattan Lal Kataria, Ambala, MLA, Panchkula, Mr Gian Chand Gupta and others.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 10- Haryana Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu today inaugurated newly constructed building of Naggal police station in Ambala. The building has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 2.5 crore.
  • While speaking on the occasion, the DGP said that it would fulfill the requirement of modern police station. Naggal Police Station, which was earlier working in a rented accommodation, would now shift to the newly constructed building equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from district Ambala, such kinds of police stations were being constructed in the entire state.
  • Mr Sandhu said that State Police is upgrading its infrastructure to provide better living and working facilities to its officers and officials. Various residential and office accommodations have been constructed across the State.
  • Later on, while interacting with media persons, the DGP said that a proposal to set up a Cyber Police Station in Faridabad has already been forwarded to the government and the same will soon be opened.
  • In reply to a question, he said that crackdown on illegal trade of drugs was among the top priority of the police. After a joint conference of seven states, a common secretariat for data and information sharing has been established in Panchkula. We are working to make the society completely drug-free. Special Task Force is also supplementing the efforts in this direction, he added.
  • He said that state government had also decided to constitute Anti Terrorist Force ‘Kavach’ to further strengthen the security as well as law and order arrangements in the state. ADGP Ambala Range Dr. R.C. Mishra was also present on this occasion.
  • Chandigarh, Oct 10– In  line with the government’s commitment to make Haryana a drug free state, Police have seized huge quantity of several drugs valued around Rs 22 crore in district Sirsa alone during last five and half months period under an ongoing campaign ‘Prabal Prahar’.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Police said that during the past five and half months, 250 cases were registered and 409 people arrested on the charge of possessing drugs in the district. Out of 250 cases registered, 204 are under session trial.
  • Giving details of the drug seizure, he said that large quantity of narcotics including more than 4.444 kg heroin, 16.437 kg opium, 28.730 kg ganja, over 2200 kg of poppy husk and doda post, 2,93,478 restricted drug pills, 1009 restricted injections and 34,100 restricted capsules were seized from the possession of arrested accused during this period. Market value of these drugs is expected to be around Rs 22 crore.   
  • He said that following the directions of Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu to nab the criminals and anti-national elements, Sirsa Police acting tough to completely curb smuggling of narcotics in the district especially in the bordering areas with Rajasthan and Punjab. Mr Sandhu lauded the efforts of the district Superintendent of Police, Mr Hamid Akhtar who has been taking stern action against the people involved in smuggling of narcotic substance.
  • Mr Sandhu also urged the people to come forward fearlessly, and share information against the sale, consumption and use of narcotics in the state so as to help the police to completely curb drug menace from the society.
  • Apart from taking stern action against drug smugglers, he said that Police is also making aware the general public about the ill effects of drug addiction. People of the district also supplementing the efforts of the police to deal with drug peddlers and drug problem. This campaign would be continued in future also so as to make the state and district completely drug-free.
