  • Chandigarh, Nov 8 – Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the State Government would implement permanent solution to deal with the problem of waterlogging in agricultural fields. In this direction, review meeting regarding measures to control floods will be held in the month of December this year. Earlier, the review meeting in this regard was being held in the month of June every year. The meeting has been preponed to take timely effective measures to control floods and tackle the situation of waterlogging.
  • This was disclosed by the Finance Minister during a function organised at village Garhi at district Hisar today.
  • He said that huge damage had been caused to crops in different areas of the state due to waterlogging caused by recent untimely trains. Therefore, the State Government would frame a policy for permanent redressal of waterlogging so that such conditions may not cause any damage in future. The flood control review meeting would now be held six months earlier to ensure all arrangements and avoid getting the agricultural lands waterlogged.
  • Capt. Abhimanyu said that those areas where agricultural land is stall waterlogged, the drainage of water would be carried out within 72 hours. He directed the Executive Engineer and other officers of the Irrigation Department to immediately take action.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 8 – As many as 11 notorious criminals, including five carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 each on their head, were arrested by Crime Investigation Agency of Haryana Police after encounter in Bahalgarh area of district Sonipat. Huge quantity of illegal weapons and Rs 10.23 lakh cash was also recovered from them.
  • Giving this information here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that all accused were involved in about three dozen criminal cases under charges of murder, attempt to murder, loot, decoity and ransom. The Director General of Police Mr B.S. Sandhu lauded the Sonepat police for arresting notorious criminals, wanted by Haryana and Delhi Police.   
  • He said that arrested accused were identified as Krishan alias Gatha, Pawan alias Pona, Nitu alias Sita, Dinesh alias Pahalwan, Mahipal alias Malha, Ravinder alias Bori, Amit alias Mota, Pramod alias Pammi, Sunil Punia, Ravinder alias Golu and Pawan.  A carbine, one pistol 32 bore, one modern rifle double magazine, one doga gun, one pistol 9 mm, one revolver, 2 pistol 315 bore, 2 revolver 32 bore, and 82 live cartridges were recovered from them.
  • A reward of Rs50,000 each was announced by Sonipat,  Rohtak and Delhi Police on the arrest of Krishan alias Gatha, Pawan alias Pona, Nitu alias Sita, Sunil and Mahipal alias Malha.
  • He said that police team during patrolling had got secret information that about one dozen criminals having illegal weapons were plotting to loot passers-by in Bahalgarh area. The team immediately tried to arrest them but criminals opened fire on police. Acting promptly, police arrested all accused. One policemen and two criminals were also injured in this incident. They were admitted to Khanpur hospital.
  • All the accused would be taken on police remand by producing them in the court. Futher investigation is under progress.
  • Chandigarh, November 8 - Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has registered 542 inquires during the period from October 26, 2014 to October 18, 2018.
  • While giving this information today, a spokesman of the Bureau said that during this period 338 inquiries have been finalized. On the basis of these inquiries, 54 criminal cases have been recommended against 62 Gazetted Officers, 58 Non-Gazetted Officers and 74 others and departmental action against delinquent officials in 119 inquiries. Criminal and Departmental action was recommended in 18 inquiries.
  • He said that during the period, 530 criminal cases including trap cases had been registered against officers or officials. During the period, the Bureau had conducted 426 raids in which 40 Gazetted Officers, 411 Non-Gazetted Officers and 57 other persons were caught red-handed while accepting illegal gratification. Criminal cases under section 7 and 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 have been registered against them in the police stations of the Bureau.
  • He said that during the period from October 26, 2014 to October 18, 2018, Technical wing of the Bureau headed by XEN level officers carried out 362 assessments throughout the state. On the basis of these checkings, the Bureau has recommended action against 552 officers or officials of various departments along with a recovery of an amount of over Rs 14.45 crore which has acted as a major deterrent against mis-utilisation of government funds, in 289 assessments out of 362 assessments.
  • During this period, 139 cases have been decided by the Courts, in which 152 officers or officials and 47 other private persons have been convicted under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in the cases filed by the Bureau.
  • Those sentenced included 30 officials of Revenue department, 28 of Police department, 16 of Education department, 14 of Power department, 10 of Cooperation department, eight of Health department, seven of Urban Local Bodies Department, five of Public Health Department, four each of  Transport and Irrigation departments, three each of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, HUDA and Agriculture departments, two each of Panchayati Raj, Labour, Wakf Board, Treasury, Excise and Taxation and Industries departments and one each of Food and Civil Supplies, Social Justice and Empowerment, Sports and Youth Affairs, Development and Panchayat and Administration of Justice, he added.
  • He said that highest number of persons convicted belong to Revenue, Police, Education and Power. In these cases, jail terms of up to five years have been awarded by the Courts.
  • The Bureau is laying emphasis on catching the corrupt officials red-handed, effective and thorough investigation of criminal cases so that maximum convictions could be secured and corrupt officials brought to book, collaborating with various departments in strengthening of internal vigilance efforts, steps are being taken to appoint Chief Vigilance Officers or Vigilance Officers in all the government departments, Corporations and Boards of the state.
  • Other actions of Bureau included making prompt and thorough probes in all inquiries entrusted to the bureau and follow up action against employees convicted in criminal cases registered by the Bureau, he added.

  • Chandigarh, November 8- Haryana Medical Education and Research Department has invited applications to fill up the post of Director, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak latest by November 14, 2018 up to 5 pm.
  • While giving this information, a spokesman of the department said that the applicant should have a basic recognized medical qualification included in the schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956). The applicant should have MD/MS/DM/ MCh or equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India in any specialty. The applicant should have minimum 20 years teaching experience, out of which five years should be as Senior Professor or on an equivalent post in Medical College or Institution recognized by Medical Council of India. He should have preferably attained National or International status in the field of teaching or research or professional competence.

  • Chandigarh, Nov 8 – In view of the General Election to Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan for which poll would be held on December 7, 2018, the Haryana Government has fixed December 7 (Friday) to be a close day (holiday) for all shops and commercial establishments falling within the jurisdiction area of the state of Haryana only for their employees who are enrolled as voters in the state of Rajasthan to enable them to exercise their franchise.
  • While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification in this regard has been issued by the Labour Department.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 8 - Haryana Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu has expressed grief over the sad demise of former DG, Mr R.K. Vachher, a retired IPS officer, who breathed his last here today.
  • In a condolence message issued here today, Mr Sandhu conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul might rest in peace.
  • Haryana IPS Officers Association also condoled the demise of Mr Vachher and prayed to the Almighty to give strength to his family members to bear this irreparable loss.
  • Appointed as DSP in year 1974, Mr Vachher was promoted in the rank of IPS in 1984. His last rites will be performed at Cremation Ground, Sector-25, Chandigarh on November 9 at 1 pm.
