  • Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar paid tributes to Martyr Capt. Rohit Kaushal on the occasion of his 23rd martyrdom day, at village Jalauli in district Panchkula today. Earlier, the soldiers of 18th Battalion of Punjab gave Guard of Honour to the Martyr and a two-minute silence was also observed.
  • It may be recalled that Capt. Rohit Kaushal attained martyrdom  while fighting against terrorists at district Doda of Jammu and Kashmir on November 10-11, 1995. The Government of India had honoured him with Shaurya Award posthumously.
  • Mr. Khullar said that Capt. Rohit Kaushal was the only son of his parents who attained martyrdom at the age of 27 years. He said that the country feels proud of such heroes. The borders of our country are secured because of such brave soldiers. He said that the State Government has been giving full honour and respect to the dependents of martyrs.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi said that crop residue based Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants would be established in three districts of the state namely Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Jind. Apart from this, a MoU had been signed between Indian Oil Corporation and Renewable Energy Department under which crop residue would be purchased from farmers for these plants and energy would be generated out of it.
  • The Chief Secretary gave this information at Hisar today. He said that building construction material was being prepared from crop residue in a factory at Haridwar where farmers from Kurukshetra have also been sending their crop residue.
  • He said that the role of Haryana is being adversely publicised for increasing environment pollution and misleading publicity is being carried out in this direction. But actually, crop residue was burned on only two per cent area of total sown area of paddy in Haryana during last year whereas this year, the crop residue was burned on only one per cent area.
  • Mr. Dhesi said that the role of Haryana and its farmers in the pollution of Delhi is negligible, but rumours are being spread in this direction. Such images are being presented that farmers of Haryana are burning crop residue in each and every agricultural field. In Haryana, paddy crop is mainly sown on 13 lakh hectares area in 10 districts. As per the data received from HARSAC, crop residue burning cases were reported on 12,473 places in the state in 2017. Similarly, this year such cases were reported on 7,273 places which is only one per cent of the total area
  • Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi said that the seriousness of administrative officers and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions would be evaluated on the basis of their contribution in curbing burning of crop residue. He said that it would be added to the ACRs of the Sub Divisional Officers that the concerned officer has shown this much seriousness in curbing such incidents.
  • Apart from this, he directed to suspend Sarpanches of village Hizrawan Kalan and Hizrawan Khurd and Nambardar of village Kasimpur of district Fatehabad for not cooperating with the district administration in putting a check on crop residue burning incidents.
  • Mr. Dhesi, who was presiding over meeting of administrative officers of district Fatehabad, Sirsa and Jind, at Fatehabad today, said that the period till November 25 is very crucial because this is the period when maximum cases of crop residue burning are reported. In view of this, the Chief Secretary constituted two committees. A committee comprising of members of Revenue, Agriculture and District Development and Panchayat Departments would monitor the sensitive villages all the time whereas the committee of Sub Divisional Officer and Tehsildar would visit different villages of the district from time to time.
  • The Chief Secretary was informed that geo tagging would soon be done of agricultural implements being given on subsidy at Custom Hiring Centres or individually. This would help in assessing whether the implements have been actually used or not. It was also directed to hold a meeting with scientists of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University to suggest new variety instead of PUSA 1401 variety of paddy, which causes more pollution on burning.
  • In the meeting, sarpanches, panches, nambardars, gram sachivs, patwaris, chaukidars and government employees were strictly cautioned that if they or their relatives are found burning crop residue then action would be initiated against them.
  • The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners of district Sirsa and Jind to adopt the decision taken by the Deputy Commissioner Fatehabad of not issuing arms licences or renew old licences of those persons who are found guilty of burning crop residue.
  • He said that apart from issuing challans to people indulged in crop residue burning, FIRs should also be registered against such guilty persons. The Haryana State Pollution Control Board would send cases of farmers burning crop residue to the courts for trials.
  • He said that efforts made by the State Government towards curbing the practice of burning crops have yielded very encouraging results.  These cases have reduced to a large extent due to awareness created and subsidy given on the crop-residue management implements by the State government, he added.
  • It was informed that no cases of crop residue burning was reported in 208 villages out of total 330 villages in district Sirsa, 110 villages out of total 306 villages in district Jind and more than 25 villages out of 257 villages in district Fatehabad.

  • Chandigarh, Nov 11 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar said that giving due honour to the  sports and sportspersons is the priority of the State Government. Haryana is the land of sportspersons and the sportspersons from the state are leading in the country in terms on winning medals.
  • Mr. Dhankar was speaking after inaugurating the marathon organised at Jhajjar today.
  • He said that the sportspersons of district Jhajjar has been leading in terms of winning medals. He said that youth should follow sportspersons such as Bajrang Punia, Manu Bhaker, Dushyant Chauhan and Sombir. All of them belong to Jhajjar, he added.
  • The Minister congratulated wrestler Bajrang Punia for bagging number one position in the world. He said that Bajrang Punia has brought laurels to his native village Khuddan, Badli Assembly Constituency, district Jhajjar, Haryana and the country.
