  • Chandigarh, December 1- A Non-Resident of India (NRI), Mr Gaurav Aggarwal settled in United States of America, has adopted a village Dangra on the call of Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, who has urged NRIs to lend their support in the development of their birthplace Haryana.  
  • His commitment to make the village Dangra as Aadarsh Gram has borne fruits. Many development projects initiated for the village have been completed. In this connection, MLA, Tohana, Mr Subhash Barala inaugurated a park, drainage for dirty water, three toilets and clean drinking water scheme and laid foundation stone of another park in the village, in the presence of Mr Gaurav Aggarwal and his wife, Mrs Meenu Aggarwal who especially reached the village from America, for the purpose. The statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was also unveiled on this occasion.
  • So far, the NRI has spent over Rs 1.25 crore on the development of the village. He had made commitment for the construction of a Solid Waste Management Plant, Solar Plant, a Library, Gobar Gas Plant and three parks in the village. Apart from this, arrangements and efforts are also being made for providing clean drinking water and cleanliness in the village.
  • On the occasion, Mr Barala also announced to upgrade the school from Class 10th to Class 12th. He urged the Gram Panchayat and said that if it would provide about 2 acres land then a community centre with 500 persons’ capacity along with a park would be opened and if it provide land of about 3.15 acre then agricultural equipment of Rs ten crore would be provided as cluster, which would include tractor, mulcher and other big machines.  
  • NRI, Mr Aggarwal was born in village Dangra and he has committed to make it Aadarsh gram. So far, the first phase of development has been completed and work has started on the second phase. While expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, MLA, Tohana Mr Subhash Barala and people of the village for their support, he said that whenever he comes here he feels at home and old memories refreshes and he hoped that the purpose for which he comes to Haryana , completes soon.
  • Chandigarh, December 1- The President of India, Mr Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the 13th Edition of CII Agro Tech India– 2018 (The Premier Agri and Food Technology Fair from December 1-4, 2018), here today.
  • Speaking on the occasion, the President said that Indian agriculture needs a renewal with contemporary technology; protection against climate change, price fluctuations and demand shocks; and sustained investment by and partnership with business. Together these will enhance agricultural value and competitiveness, as well as lead to better incomes.
  • The President said that through human history, agriculture has moved ahead with cross-fertilisation. It is the ideal stage for partnerships, for symbiosis and for mutual learning and sharing. Partnerships can be formed across sectors and across geographies. In previous decades, manufacturing and mechanisation have been of appreciable utility to agriculture. Today a strong relationship is emerging between agriculture and the services sector. Biotechnology, nanotechnology, data science, remote-sensing imaging, autonomous aerial and ground vehicles, and artificial intelligence hold the key to generating more value for agriculture. He expressed confidence that Agro Tech India-2018 would promote specific partnerships that would benefit the farmers of India.
  • While pointing to the issue of pollution due to stubble burning, the President said that the farmers of Punjab and Haryana are the pride for our country. They have never shied away from a challenge and a responsibility to larger society. Today, we are facing a problem related to disposal of crop residue and of safe and clean removal of husk or stubble. In an extreme form, the burning of such items is leading to pollution that affects even little children. It is for all of us, including the state governments, the progressive  farmers, and other stakeholders, to come up with a solution. And no doubt technology will help us find a solution.
  • Earlier, the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that scheme like Mega Food Park, Cold Chain and Mini Food Park have been implemented by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. On the occasion she also informed about other details related to the Ministry.
  • While praising the works being done in the field of agriculture under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Mr Radha Mohan Singh said that Haryana has done great work in the area of Agri Business. He said that until the village does not become stronger, the country cannot become stronger. He said that challenges in food production, rising population, eating habits, mandi and others are the pressing concerns of agriculture sector, therefore, the farmers should be empowered.
  • Mr Singh said that we are leading in the fields of milk production and fisheries production. In the last four years of present government, milk production has recorded an  increase of 28 per cent and recorded an increase of 27 per cent in fisheries production.
  • Those present on the occasion included Haryana Governor, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya, Punjab Governor, Mr V.P. Badnore, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Mr. Radha Mohan Singh and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and other officials of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
  • Chandigarh, December 1- As many as 10 lakh new smart meters will be installed in Haryana and the state government has initiated its purchase process. These meters will also have prepaid facility and it will replace the manual meter reading in about five years.  
  • Disclosing this information in Kaithal today, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Uttar and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Mr Shatrujeet Kapoor said that the electricity bills are being sent on the mobile phones of consumers through SMS by the Nigams.
  • He said that the power utilities have allotted the tender for the purchase of 10 lakh new smart meters so as to bring transparency in meter reading and bill making. He said that under Mhara Gaon, Jagmag Gaon scheme, out of 900 rural feeders, 24 hours electricity is being supplied on 605 feeders.   On each rural feeder, about Rs 1.50 crore are being spent on the replacement of electricity poles, wires and transformers. This work is being done by selecting three feeders each from every sub-division. Last year during April-May, raids were conducted in various government institutions and about 350 cases were registered to stop power thefts.
  • He said that under the scheme for the settlement of pending electricity bills, 10,000 consumers of Kaithal district are linked to the scheme and 65,000 other consumers would also avail the benefit of the scheme till December 31, 2018.
  • He said that the officers have been directed to prepare a village wise and ward-wise list of those who have pending bills to pay. These lists would be shared with Sarpanches and District Administration, on the basis of which they would contact the consumers who have not paid pending power bill and would encourage to pay their bills.
  • He said that the 24 hours power availability will facilitate both women and children and new industries would come up which would also open job opportunities for unemployed persons. He said that on the demand of consumers, the facility of meter testing has been provided again. The recruitment process of filling the vacant posts in Power Utilities department is in progress,  in which about 4,500 are technical and 4,500 are non-technical. After the recruitment, there would be no shortage of staff in the department.
  • Chandigarh, December 1- The slogan of Parali nahi jalayeinge, apno ko sawasth banayeinge (We will not burn stubble for the good health of our nears and dears) is yielding positive results throughout Haryana. Now, the farmers are themselves engaged in the crops residue management and some farmers are also inspiring other farmers in following the same route. One such farmer, Sardar Iqbal Singh Nambardar of village Nejadhelan Kalan in district Sirsa has become source of inspiration for many farmers by the way he manages the crop residue.
  • Iqbal Singh said that in view of safe environment, he never burns stubble rather get it cut through the help of new machines. Similarly, this year he used baler machine for the crop residue cutting and sent it in the power generating unit. He said that this machine has been hired on rent for the purpose of crop residue management.
  • He said that the baler machine collects scattered stubble on the fields and make number of knotted stacks of it. And these stacks could be used for making balls, cardboard, manure, fodder and for generating electricity. The machines clear stubble of 15 to 20 acres land in a day.
  • He said that from time to time he has also generated awareness among his fellow farmers for not burning their stubble to keep environment pollution free and rather think of ways to make use of stubble
