  • Chandigarh, December 12- Asia’s finest Art pottery has also reached Kurukshetra to adorn the Saras Mela in the ongoing International Gita Mahotsav. This work of art pottery is done at village Khurja of Bullandshehar in Uttar Pradesh. Each house in the village has the finest of artisans of Blue Art Pottery. Therefore, the village is known in whole Asia for this Art Pottery. Artisan, Rekha Rawat has brought this pottery for tourists.        
  • She said that she is into this art for the last 14 years and has also provided employment opportunities to over 12 persons in this art.  She has brought beautifully crafted designs of bowls, teacups, big jars and lanterns.
  • A disabled craftsman,  Akleem Ahmed along with his brother has brought a beautiful hand-woven carpet . Mr Ahmed said that they have been coming to this event for the last 10 years.  They have brought carpets, foot mats, rugs and others for the tourists. 
  • A stall of Patiala tilla jutti was major attraction among women tourists. This time, Vijay from Patiala has especially has brought waterproof juttis which have been made with hands. The craftsman has even been awarded a National award in 2013-14 for the craft. Apart from this, he has also been honoured at Suraj Kund Mela and Saras Mela by the State government.  
  • A stall of e-Learning has also been set up with the support of NIC and Education department for children. It was also one of attraction for the tourists. Here, children have free entry and they are given all important information of the world and shown the Discovery channel. At the stall, children were updated on subjects like fancy dress, clay modeling, painting competition and others.
  • The e-Learning stall has about 50 experts to interestingly teach children on various subjects, so to educate them through play.
  • Chandigarh, December 12- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will inaugurate the International Gita Mahotsav to be organised in all the districts across the state on December 16 from Gurugram.
  • While giving this information, an official spokesman said that the inauguration programme would be organised at the complex of Apparel House in Sector-44  so as to connect the people of the new Gurugram city with the celebrations.
  • He said that an exhibition based on Gita depicting significant events would be displayed at the premises to add grandeur to the event. Stalls of various religious institutions like ISKON, Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board and others would be set up along with the exhibition of various welfare schemes of the State Government to make people aware about schemes and take its benefits.
  • He said that on the occasion, students would also chant shalokas. The Chief Minister would later inaugurate the exhibition and watch a performance based on Shrimad Bhagvad Gita and other cultural performances by school students and artists of Haryana Kala Parishad.
  • Chandigarh, Dec 12 – Haryana Police have arrested three drug peddlers, including two resident of Himachal Pradesh, with 2 kg 100 gram charas worth over Rs one lakh from Gohana in district Sonipat.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused has been identified as Nanakchand and Shayam Lal, both resident of Somakothi, district Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Ram Singh of Chidana in Sonipat.
  • He said that trio was nabbed by a police team during patrolling when they were roaming in suspicious condition near village Chidana, Shamdi mor.
  • During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that they used to bring contraband (charas) from Himachal Pradesh to supply it in Sonipat area on higher rates.
  • All accused were booked under relevant sections of NDPS Act and were sent in judicial custody after producing them in the court.
  • It may be recalled that Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu had already directed all district Superintendents of Police to completely crush the menace of drug peddling and its distribution network in their respective areas.
  • Chandigarh, December 12- In Haryana, more than 72.24 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of Paddy has arrived so far in mandis as against the arrival of more than 71.32 lakh MT during the same period of last year.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that out of the total arrival, government procuring agencies have procured over 58.34 lakh metric tonnes whereas over 13.89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is purchased by millers and dealers.
  • He said that more than 32.46 lakh MT of paddy have been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, over 17.76 lakh MT by Hafed, over 7.93 lakh MT by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 17,744 MT by the Food Corporation of India.
  • Giving details of arrival in mandis of different districts, the spokesman said that out of the total arrival, the maximum quantity of paddy has arrived in Karnal which is over 15.51 lakh MT followed by Kurukshetra over 11.63 lakh MT. Similarly, over 8.33 lakh MT paddy has arrived in mandis of Kaithal, over 7.91 lakh MT in Fatehabad, over 7.74 lakh MT in Ambala, over 6.33 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, over 5.02 lakh MT in Jind, over 3.02 lakh MT in Sirsa, over 2.15 lakh MT each in Panipat, over 1.52 lakh MT in Hisar, over 1.44 lakh MT in Panchkula, 48,093 MT in Faridabad, 43,420 MT in Sonipat, 34,519 MT in Jhajjar, 12,267 MT in Rohtak, 10,289 MT in Palwal and 9,947 MT in Mewat.
  • Chandigarh, December 12- The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 3.34 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 43.95 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced a maximum of 63,400 quintals of sugar by crushing 8.58 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced 58,800 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.53 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, which has produced 46,210 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.57 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal has produced 40,500 quintals of sugar by crushing five lakh quintals of sugarcane, whereas Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 31,150 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.91 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Similarly, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Jind has produced 37,475 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.53 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 25,425 quintals of sugar by crushing 3.12 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat has produced 25,350 quintals of sugar by crushing three lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced 40,500 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.71 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 8.67 per cent.
