  • Chandigarh, December 13- The Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Dr. Kailash Chandra Sharma announced to open Gita Study and Research Centre in the university for the study of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, at the inaugural ceremony of International Gita Seminar in Kurukshetra today.
  • He said that a proposal in this regard was sent to the Vice Chancellor and Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya from the Philosophy Department of the University. He has granted permission to create a special center for Buddhism at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Studies Center and Gita Study and Research Center at Kurukshetra University. In the coming days, the students would get to study Buddhism and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita in the centres, he added.
  • The Vice-Chancellor said that Kurukshetra University, before this, students are taking education through the certificate course on Bhagwadgita in the Directorate of Philosophy and Distance Education. He said that students are already taking education through certificate course on Bhagavad Gita in Department of Philosophy and Directorate of Distance Education of the University.
  • Chandigarh, December 13- The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 3.54 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 46.15 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced a maximum of 67,050 quintals of sugar by crushing nine lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced 62,800 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.96 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, which has produced 47,930 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.75 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal has produced 42,550 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.19 lakh quintals of sugarcane, whereas Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 33,350 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.14 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Similarly, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Jind has produced 39,150 quintals of sugar by crushing 4.69 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 26,925 quintals of sugar by crushing 3.27 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat has produced 27,100 quintals of sugar by crushing 3.17 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced 42,600 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.97 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 8.70 per cent.
  • Chandigarh, Dec 13 – In line with the government’s commitment to make Haryana a drug free state, Haryana Police have registered 235 cases and arrested 286 persons under NDPS Act during a special anti-drug campaign in the month of November 2018.
  • While stating this here today, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr B.S. Sandhu said that huge quantity of narcotics including 282 kg 678 gram poppy husk, 73 kg 499 gram charas, 748 gram heroin, 120 kg 66 gram ganja, 36 kg 832 gram sulfa, 7 kg 735 gram smack, 3 kg 145 gram opium and 94,178 restricted tablets, syrups, capsules and injections were seized from the possession of arrested accused during this period. He said that a crackdown on drug-peddlers was launched from November 1 to 30 focusing on the seizure of illegal drugs and tighten the noose on those involved in such illegal activities.
  • Mr Sandhu has also directed all Commissioners of Police and district Superintendents of Police to completely crush the menace of drug peddling and its distribution network in their respective areas. People should come forward fearlessly, and share information against the sale, consumption and use of narcotics with police to completely curb drug menace from the society.
  • Divulging the details about the seizure, Director General Crime, Mr P.K. Agrawal said that maximum numbers of 33 cases were registered under NDPS Act in district Fatehabad where 51 accused were arrested during the same period. Similarly, 22 cases were registered in Jhajjar, 21 in Sonipat, 20 in Karnal, 19 in Sirsa, 16 in Kurukshetra and 14 in Rohtak by recovering a huge consignment of drugs including heroin, poppy husk, and opium. Regular raids were conducted in all districts on daily basis. Apart from taking stern action against drug peddlers, Police is also making aware the general public about the ill effects of drug addiction, he added.
  • He also urged the general public to come out and share information about the drug peddlers. Their identity will be kept secret and they will be suitably rewarded.
  • Chandigarh, December 13: Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory today announced that Mauritius will organise Gita Mohatsav in the month of February 2019 and a delegation from India has also been invited for this important event.
  • Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory was speaking at the inauguration of three-day International Seminar on ‘Making New India-Insight of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita’ being organized as part of International Gita Mahotsav  at Kurukshetra today. Mauritius is the partner country and Gujarat is the partner state in the International Gita Mahotsav – 2018 being inaugurated at Kurukshetra today.
  • Haryana Governor Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya, Haryana  Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr Krishan Kumar, Education Minister of Gujarat Mr Bhupendra Singh Chudasama, High Commissioner of Mauritius to India Mr Jagdishwar Goburdhan were also present on this occasion.
  • Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory said that teaching of sacred Gita is as relevant today as it has been when Lord Krishna delivered celestial message of Gita to Lord Arjuna in the battlefield about 5300 years ago.
  • He said that Arjuna proud and confident in his mentally attributes and prowess found himself faced with dilemma of choice. He had a decision to make whether to fight or flee. But Lord Krishna gave him the wisdom to fight with the situation. “I do believe like Arjuna after so many years we can find wisdom to help us make a right decision’, he added. He said that many people in our present society, take hasty decisions on basis of impulsiveness and end up taking wrong decisions. In our modern life, the battle today is in our mind where decisions are to be taken, he said adding that on the battlefield of mind, there is conflict between good and evil and at duties and other considerations and the answer could be find in Bhagwad Gita.
  • Mr Paramasivum Pillay said that it is very good to see that Haryana Government has decided to celebrate the International Gita Mohatsav to propagate the teachings of sacred Gita. He said that majority of population in Mauritius is from India . We are very much Indian  and also celebrates festivals like Diwali, Mahashivrati, Pongal, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ram Navmi and Krishan Jayanti. He said that the bond between India and Mauritius is very strong and there is feeling of brotherhood between people of both countries. He also thanked Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for making Mauritius as partner country in International Gita Mohatsav and also inviting him to Kurukshetra to be a part of the event. 
  • Mr Paramasivum Pillay concluded his speech with the message of Gita “Karam Karo Fal Ki Chinta Mat Karo”,  perform your  actions without  thinking of result, describing it the wisest message of  Srimad Bhagvad Gita.
  • Speaking on this occasion, Governor Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya  welcomed the Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory  at  Kurukshetra.
  • He described Kurukshetra as a centre of spiritual and religious education. It is the same land where Lord Krishna delivered celestial message of Bhagvad Gita to Arjuna. Giving special emphasis on imparting quality education to all especial to children belonging to weaker section of the society, he said that it is necessary in further strengthening the society and the country.
  • He said that the sacred scripture of Gita has the solution of all problems and teachings of Gita have the power to make the India a Vishwaguru once again. He also appreciated Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for working with the spirit of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas and for the effective implementation of various programmes in the State like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Ujjawala Yojana etc and said that as a result of this today Haryana is number one state in the country in many spheres.    
  • In his address, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal welcomed  the Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory at the holy land of Kurukshetra.  
  • Mr Manohar Lal said that the sacred  book Srimad Bhagvad Gita is not confined only to spiritualism but has a practical relevance. The Holy Scripture of 700 shalokas has a message for people belonging to all sections of the society. Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi is working towards building a new India through the message of Gita and taking new initiatives consistently for the welfare of people of different strata of the society, he  added.        
  • While describing Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi as a real example of ‘Karamyogi’, Mr Manohar Lal exhorted the scholars, thinkers and Gita followers to held detailed deliberations on  the message of sacred Gita in building a new India. He said that Mr Narendra Modi working to take the Country on  the path of development through the use of Gita, has taken several new initiatives in this direction including the Beti Bacha-Beti Padhao programme, Swachta Abhiyan, Make in India, Digital India, Pradhanmantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Housing for All etc.
  • Throwing light on the significance of  Srimad Bhagvad Gita, the Chief Minister said that the holy Scripture has something in it for every section of the society be it farmers, students, teachers, politicians, soldiers and traders. He said that the sacred book also contain management values which teaches us how to manage our life. After being inspired from the holy book, the prestigious Harvard Business School has carried out research on Bhagvad Gita and also implemented the same. Referring to the importance of holy book Gita in the present day scenario, he said that though a lot is being done in world in the field of science but without the knowledge of Gita, the use of science could be devastating, he added.
  • He said that at the International Gita Mohatsav this year, Mauritius is the partner country and Gujarat is the partner state. He said that Mauritius is a small country with about 13 lakh population, majority of them are from India. He said that several countries have come forward to celebrate Gita Mohatsav at international level and Mauritius is first among such countries as it has decided to celebrate Gita Mohatsav in the month of February 2019. The country also has institute after the name of  Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi and  also Rabindranath Tagore which reflects strong bonding between India and Mauritius. He also referred to the deep relations between Haryana and Gujarat saying that while Lord Krishna delivered celestial message of Bhagvad Gita to Arjuna at Kurukshetra, Dwarka in Gujarat has been his (Lord Krishna) Karmabhoomi.   
  • He said that today he has also visited Gita Sansthanam set up in Kurukshetra. Pictures associated with sacred Gita have been displayed in the Santhanatham giving the Holy Scripture recognition at international level. He said that earlier, the Gita Jayanti was celebrated at State Level but since 2016, we are celebrating it at international level. This is third event in this series. Till now people of about 12-13 countries have so far visited the international  Gita Mohatsav this year and visitors of more countries are expected to participate in the coming days, he added. He said to further spread the teachings of sacred Gita, programmes are also being organized at district and block level. Apart from this the government has also included Gita Shlokas in the school curriculum to inculcate moral values among the students from the early age. He said that besides Government, the other organizations should also come forward and contribute in spreading the teachings of  Srimad Bhagvad Gita.
  • Mr Manohar Lal informed that BJP National President Mr Amit Shah was scheduled to visit the holy city today to attend the International Gita Mohatsav but he could make it due to some health issues.
  • Education Minister of Gujarat Mr Bhupendra Singh Chudasama said the way Yoga has been accepted by the whole world, Gita has also given recognition by several countries. He said that Gita is a guide of life and not only India but various other countries have read this Holy Scripture and propagate its teachings. He thanked the Haryana Government and Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal on behalf of Gujarat Chief Minister Mr Vijay Rupani for making Gujarat, a partner State in the International Gita Mahotsav-2018. He also invited Mr Manohar Lal to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit  scheduled be held in January 2019.
  • Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma described Kurukshetra as the cultural capital of the country and said that   we have the most ancient civilization and we are proud of it. He described Gita as a science which has the solution to all problems.
  • Gita Manishi Swami Gyanand ji Maharaj said that besides the infrastructure development, building of moral values in human being is equally important for building a strong nation. He said that with the excessive use of materialism, the working efficiency and will power of people are continuously diminishing. The Gita is an appropriate medium to maintain a balance between the spiritualism and materialism, he added.
  • Earlier, they released a Coffee Table Book entitled “48 Kos Ek Sanskritik Yatra” depicting the photographs of 134 religious sites falling within 48 Kos of Kurukshetra. Apart from this, a souvenir and a book on events organized during the International Gita Mahotsav last year were also released.
  • Among those present on this occasion included MLAs namely  Mr Subhash Sudha and Dr Pawan Saini, scholors, Gita followers and participants from different countries.
  • Chandigarh, Dec 13: The International Gita Mahotsav 2018 was formally inaugurated today at Kurukshetra amidst chanting of Mantras   and blowing of Shankh in front of Brahma Sarovar. On this occasion,  Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Haryana Governor, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal performed prayers at Brahma Sarovar by worshipping the holy scripture, Shrimad Bhagvad Gita and formally inaugurated the International Gita Mahotsav 2018 to be held from December 13 to December 18.
  • On the arrival of Acting President of Mauritius, Mr Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, Haryana Governor, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Gujarat Education Minister, Mr Bhupendrasinh Manubha Chudasama at Brahma Sarovar, the dignitaries were welcomed with Haryana's traditional instrumental performances. Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs Kavita Jain, Minister of  State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr Krishan Kumar,MLA Mr Subhash Sudha, MLA, Mr Pawan Saini  were also present on this occasion besides others.
  • Later all the guests visited the Haryana Pavilion and saw the cultural heritage of Haryana in this pavilion and tasted Hariyanvi dishes. After this they also visited state-level exhibition organized by Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, an exhibition organized by the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Board and after that they visited the Gujarat pavilion.
  • The guests had a look at the model of Saraswati river and Vice President of Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board,  Mr Prashant Bharadwaj described about development of the Saraswati river and  the efforts made so far.  Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma honored all the guests by presenting the holy scripture, Gita and a Shawl.
