- Chandigarh, Jan 7 – Haryana State Election Commission has issued the notification regarding names of candidates who have been elected as Members of the Municipal Committees in the General Election held on December 16, 2018.
- While giving details, a spokesman of the Commission said that as per the notification, the elected Members in Municipal Committee, Jakhal Mandi of district Fatehabad included Harvinder Singh, Veeran Rani, Monika, Kirti Goyal, Seema Rani, Gobind, Swati Rani, Vikramjeet Singh, Bikram Kumar, Vikas Kumar, Amit Kumar, Neety Bansal and Seema Rani.
- He said that the elected Members in Municipal Committee, Pundri of district Kaithal included Rama Rani, Jaipal, Sunita Rani, Kulvinder Singh, Shushma, Ritu, Santosh, Shailja Rani, Mukesh Kumar, Jyoti, Roshni Devi, Ram Kumar and Komal.
- Chandigarh, Jan 7 - The Chief Election Commissioner of India, Mr. Sunil Arora reviewed the election preparedness of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in connection with the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2019, here today.
- The Commission began the review with a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers of Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh and discussed multifarious issues related to provision of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) at the Polling Stations, strengthening of manpower and infrastructure of CEO’s offices, filling up of all vacant positions of elections functionaries at the field level, availability of EVMs/VVPATs and other election material, adequate budget provisions. The Chief Electoral officers of Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh also briefed the Chief Election Commissioner about the progress of Special Summary Revision, with respect to January 1, 2019, Voter Helpline (1950) and other IT related Applications.
- This was followed by a comprehensive discussion with the Chief Secretary, DGP, Home Secretary and other senior Officials of Punjab and Haryana, as also with the Advisor to Administrator and other senior officials of Union Territory of Chandigarh on the various election related arrangements to be secured for the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections a free, fair, inclusive, participative and credible manner.
- The Chief Election Commissioner directed the CEOs to ensure that all Contact Centres with a uniform number – ‘1950’ would be made operational as a single point contact for all election related information and facilitation to voters. It was also directed that urgent and time-bound action must be taken to ensure the availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) at every polling station for the convenience and facilitation of the voters.
- He also emphasized the urgent need to create a comprehensive data base of Persons with Disability (PwD) voters along with their PS-wise mapping to ensure that adequate assistance is provided to all PwD voters on day of Poll, which is very important to realize the Commission’s motto of ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’. The Chief Election Commissioner directed that forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections should be made most friendly for voters and all necessary facilitations should be provided specially to gender, Persons with Disability and senior citizens.
- Mr. Arora also stressed on the imperative of imparting robust and comprehensive training to all levels of election related officials on the entire spectrum of election related matters including ERO-NET, BLO-NET, revision of Electoral Rolls and implementation of IT- applications like Suvidha, Samadhan, Sugam and C-VIGIL App, as also Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS).
- The review meeting was attended by senior officers of ECI including Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, Mr. Umesh Sinha, Director General, Mr. Dhirendra Ojha and Director, Mr. Nikhil Kumar.
- Chandigarh, Jan 7 – Haryana Sub Divisional Magistrate (S.D.M) and Returning Officer of Jind Assembly Constituency, Mr. Virender Sehrawat said that in view of the Jind bye-elections, a control room has been set up at office of SDM in Mini Secretariat, Jind.

- Chandigarh, Jan 7 – Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani has uploaded the answer key of all subjects related to Level-1(PRT), Level-2 (TGT) and Level-3 (PGT) of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) examination that held on January 5 and 6, 2019 across the state, on Board’s website www.bseh.org.in .
- While giving this information today, Chairman of Board, Dr Jagbir Singh said that if any candidate has any objection related to any question given in question paper or any answer option given in answer key, then he or she could register their objection on Boards' website for free, with complete facts and proof from January 8 to 14, 2019 up till 5 pm.
- He said that any objection received after January 14, 2019 regarding the question paper or answer key would not be entertained and the objection would be canceled without notice.
- Chandigarh, Jan 7- Haryana State Election Commission has issued the notification regarding names of Mayors and Members, declared elected during the general elections of five Municipal Corporations held on December 16,2018.
- While giving details, an official spokesman said that as per notification, in Municipal Corporation, Hisar, Gautam Sardana has been elected as Mayor, while Anil Jain, Kavita Kedia, Shalu Diwan, Anil Kumar, Jyoti, Umed Singh, Manohar Lal, Bhup Singh, Jaiparkash, Bimla Devi, Saroj Bala, Jag Mohan, Amita, Amit, Pritam Singh, Vinod, Mahender, Jaiveer, Narender Kumar and Ambika Sharma have been elected as Members.
- Similarly, in Municipal Corporation, Karnal, Renu Bala has been elected as Mayor, while Naveen Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Manjit Kaur, Neelam, Jai Bhagwan, Neelam Devi, Sudershan Kumar, Megha Bhandari, Mukesh Kumar, Vir Vikram Kumar, Ramanjit Kaur, Monika Garg, Ish Kumar Gulati, Ram Chander, Yudhvir Singh, Rajni, Joginder Sharma, Harish Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and Monu have been elected as Members.
- He said that in Municipal Corporation, Rohtak, Manmohan Goyal has been elected as Mayor, while Krishan Kumar, Suman, Tilak Raj Chouhan, Dhrmender Gulia Pappan, Geeta, Suresh Chander, Manoj Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Jai Bhagwan, Rahul Deswal, Kadam Singh Ahlawat, Manju Hooda, Kanchan, Radhe Shyam, Gulshan Kumar Ishpuniani, Dimpal, Raj Kamal Sehgal, Deepika, Mukta, Poonam, Anil Kumar and Santosh have been elected as Members.

- Chandigarh, Jan 7 – In a major breakthrough in double murder case in Rohtak four months ago, in which a woman and a cop escorting her were shot dead by bike-borne youth, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Haryana Police has arrested another accused who was involved in the incident.
- While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that the accused had been identified as Vikas, a resident of Barmoli, district Bagpat in Uttar Pradesh, who was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Seven others involved in this case have already been arrested and put behind bars.
- During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that arrested accused is a member of Meerut’s notorious Yogesh Bhadora gang, who had to commit the crime but could not execute it due to some reasons.
- The weapons used in crime were delivered by Vikas, who is also an arms supplier. The accused was arrested following a secret information. Police is also conducting raids in search of Mamta’s cousin Sombir, who will be arrested soon.
- In this case, police had arrested both real and foster parents of Mamta, who was involved in the incident within 36 hours of occurrence. The three bike-borne assailants were also arrested by police alongwith weapons on August 14.
- It may be recalled that Mamta and a Sub-Inspector escorting her were shot dead by three unidentified bike-borne assailants in Rohtak in August, last year.
- Chandigarh, Jan 7- Haryana Government has assigned Dr Hanif Qureshi, Inspector General, India Reserve Battalion, the additional charge of Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, with immediate effect.
- Chandigarh, Jan 7 – The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 9.10 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 103.19 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
- While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced a maximum of over 1.79 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 19.25 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced over 1.44 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 17.05 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal has produced over 1.07 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 11.76 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- He said that Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, which has produced 98,430 quintals of sugar by crushing 10.85 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Similarly, the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 86,350 quintals of sugar by crushing 10.91 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 68,905 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.39 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat has produced 62,775 quintals of sugar by crushing 6.79 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Gohana has produced 63,620 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.71 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Sonipat has produced 20,050 quintals of sugar by crushing 2.66 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced over 1.04 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 12.42 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
- He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 9.32 per cent.
