  • Chandigarh, Jan 16 : In view of the bye-elections to Jind Assembly Constituency, the pilot rehearsal will be organised in the auditorium of Government College for Women on January 17 at 10 a.m. The Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers will take part in this rehearsal.  
  • While giving this information, Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer, Mr  Amit Khatri said that rehearsal  would be  done with 210 Presiding Officers and 210 Assistant Presiding Officers. Apart from this, ten women officers and ten persons with disability would also be included in this rehearsal. He said that this time, as per the Election Commission's order, women booths would also be set up during elections and only women officers would be deployed on these booths. Similarly, special booths would also be set up for the people with disability.
  • SDM and Returning officer, Jind Assembly Constituency, Mr Virender Singh Sehrawat said that during the pilot rehearsal, information related to the use of EVM would be provided to the personnel deputed for the election duty. As per the directions of General Observer, the detailed information about Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines would also be given to the officers. He said that as the VVPAT machines are being used for the first time so information regarding working of these machines would be given to the officers. He said that special campaigns to provide necessary information about VVPAT machines have also been arranged for the general public.  
  • Returning Officer said that, during rehearsal, a documentary film prepared by the Election Commission to conduct elections in a fair and transparent manner would also be shown. Apart from this, information about Model Code of Conduct would also be given. During the pilot rehearsal, General Observer, Mr Saurabh Bhagat, Expenditure Observer, Mr S.K.H. Meshram, District Electoral officer and DC, Mr Amit Khatri, Special Superintendent of Police, Mr  Ashwin Shenvi would also be present, he added.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 16: For the upcoming bye-elections to Jind Assembly Constituency, the multipurpose hall of Arjun Stadium has been made as counting center for the purpose of counting of votes.
  • General Observer, Mr Saurabh Bhagat visited the counting centre to ensure all kind of arrangements. On this occasion, Returning officer Jind Assembly Constituency, Mr Virender Singh Sehrawat, Assistant Returning Officer and Tehsildar, Mr Parveen Kumar, Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, Mr Deepak Goyal, Executive Engineer of Public Works Department, Mr Navneet Kumar were also present.  
  • Mr Saurabh Bhagat directed the concerned officers to ensure proper electricity arrangement for the counting centre. Besides this, there should be proper sitting arrangement for the agents.  He also directed the concerned officers to get the washrooms of the stadium repaired well in time with proper water arrangement. He also directed   to arrange fire extinguishing system at the counting center. Keeping in view the safety of the centre during counting of votes, system for diversion of traffic should also be ensured, he added.
  • Executive Engineer of Public Works Department informed that arrangements has already been started in the counting centre.

  • Mr. Khatri has appointed Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Mr. Sanjay Sharma has Sector Magistrate for polling centres located at villages Kandela, Amarheri, Shrirag Khera, Ahirka, Kairkheri, Roopgarh and Jeetgarh. Similarly, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Naguran has been appointed as Supervisor Officer. He said that Mr. Sanjay Sharma has also been appointed Sector Magistrate fir polling centres located at villages Haibatpur, Khokhri, Bohatwala, Barsana, Raichandwala, Khunga and Dalamwala. The Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Mr. Satender Singh has been appointed Supervisor Officer for these villages.
  • He said that DMEO, Marketing Board, Jind, Mr. Hawa Singh has been appointed as Sector Magistrate for polling centres at villages Kheri Taloda, Lohchab, Manoharpur, Nirjan, Mando Kheri, Pindara and Sector 74 to 91 and Sector 110 and Sector 111 of Jind City. He said that Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Raichandwala, Mr. Rajender Sing has been appointed Supervisor Officer for villages Kheri Taloda, Lohchab, Manoharpur, Nirjan and Mando Kheri. Similarly, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Shamdo has been appointed Supervisor Officer for village Pindara and Sector 74 to 91 and Sector 110 and Sector 111 of Jind City.
  • The spokesman said that Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department, Narwana, Mr. Harbhajan Singh has been appointed Sector Magistrate for polling centre no 38 to 57, 92 to 105, 112 to 123 and polling centres established at village Jalalpur Khurd. He said that Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Penga, Mr. Ghasiram has been appointed Supervisor Officer for polling centre number 92 to 105 and 112 to 123 of Jind City. The Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Naguran, Mr. Krishan Kumar has been appointed Supervisor Officer for booth no. 38 to 57 of city and booth no. 138 and 139 of village Jalalpur.
  • He said that ME, Market Committee, Jind, Mr. Satish Garg has been appointed Sector Magistrate for polling centre no. 58 to 73, 106 to 109 of Jind city and booth no. 127 of village Jhanj Khurd, booth no. 20 of village Badodi, booth no. 128 and 129 of village Jhanj Kalan and booth no. 130 to 132 of village Barsela. Similarly, Principal of DIET, Ikkas, Mr. Naveen Nara has been appointed Supervisor Officer for polling centre no. 58 to 73 and 106 to 109 of Jind city. Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Ital Kalan, Mr. Kalyan Singh has been appointed Supervisor Officer for booth no. 127 of village Jhanj Khurd, booth no. 20 of village Badoli, booth no. 128 and 129 of village Jhanj Kalan and booth no. 130 to 132 of village Barsola.
  • The DFSO of District Food and Supplies Department, Mr. Rajesh Kumar has been appointed Sector Magistrate for villages Ikkas, Julani, Dhanda Kheri, Dariawala, Ittal Khurd, Ittal Kalan, Jajwan, Jalalpur Kalan and Sangatpura. He said that Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Ahirka, Mr. Rajbir Deswal has been appointed Supervisor Officer for villages Ikkas, Julani, Danda Kheri, Dariawala and Ittal Khurd. Similarly, Principal of Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Ghimana, Mr. Krishan Singh has been appointed Supervisor Officer for villages Ittal Kalan, Jajwan, Jalalpur Kalan and Sangatpura.   • Chandigarh, January 16 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today announced a ‘Shaurya Award’ in the name of 71 martyrs of State police force who laid down their lives during line of duty while protecting society and maintaining law and order in the state. Under this award, a prize money of Rs 11,000 in memory of each police martyr would be given to a student for valour deeds every year in the block, in which the school is located where the martyr had studied during his childhood.
  • The Chief Minister was addressing the family members of Haryana Police martyrs at National Police Memorial in Delhi today. He also laid wreath and paid homage to the martyrs at the memorial. Haryana government today organised first ever state level function at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi to honour the families of all 71 policemen who made supreme sacrifice of their lives in various attacks and encounters since formation of Haryana in 1966. A Guard of Honour with 116 police personnel was also organised which was led by ASP Ajit Singh Sekhawat.
  • On the request of Director General of Police (DGP) Mr B.S. Sandhu, the Chief Minister also announced that a State level Police Memorial recognising the bravery and courage of martyrs of State police force would be constructed in the State. A book titled ‘Martys of Haryana police’ highlighting heroic deeds of the martyrs was also released by the Chief Minister.
  • Speaking on the occasion, Mr Manohar Lal saluted the supreme sacrifices of police personnel who laid down their lives for internal security in the country. He said that this National Police Memorial was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, on October 21 last year on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, who desired that every State Police should organize a function here to pay tributes to their Police martyrs.
  • He said that ‘Operation Shriman’ was launched by Haryana Police, to teach it’s officials to discharge their duty in a firm manner while being polite with the public.  This will further strengthen their bond with the masses. He also urged the police to adopt technology and innovation in their routine working to make the Haryana Police one of the best police force in the country.
  • Expressing happiness over the initiative of Haryana Police who were first among states to organize function at the National Police Memorial in Delhi, the Chief Minister said that amount of ex-gratia grant being given to family members of police personnel who die in the line of duty has been enhanced from Rs10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. Apart from this assistance under government policy, financial aid of Rs 30 lakh is also given under a special agreement of accidental death insurance cover with HDFC bank. So, family of a police martyr gets financial assistance of Rs 60 lac in total.
  • He said that in case of encounter death, a provision of job to one of the dependents of police martyr has also been made by the government. The Chief Minister  listed various welfare measures taken for the police personnel in Haryana and said that a financial assistance Rs 550 crore was provided through HUDCO for construction of houses for police personnel. With this, 3060 houses were being constructed for police personnel in various districts. In addition, provision of additional funds of Rs 1050 crore had also been made for construction of more houses for cops. Matching grant being given by the government for welfare of police personnel has also been increased from Rs 4 crore to Rs 6 crore per annum. Ration money given to police personnel has also been increased from Rs 600 to Rs 1000 per month and arrangement of crèche facility for care of babies and young children of women police personnel and facility of changing room for them wherever required has also been made.
  • Speaking on this occasion, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr B.S. Sandhu briefed about the National Police Memorial, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi on October 21, 2018.
  • Saluting the Haryana Police martyrs, Mr Sandhu said that all associated with this Memorial would inspire the youth and inform them about the bravery of our police personnel. He also recalled the supreme sacrifices of brave police personnel who laid down their lives for maintaining peace and law and order in the State. Listing the facilities given to dependents of police martyrs, he said that free education up to XII standards is imparted to the wards of the deceased employees in DAV Police Public Schools.
