  • Chandigarh, Jan 18: Despite dense fog and cold weather conditions, the Drive Safe Marathon - Run for Road Safety - 2019’ which was kicked off by Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal in Jagadhri of district Yamunanagar today saw an overwhelming response from all walks of life. Scores of sports person, students of school and colleges, members of various organizations and people of the district ran together to set a new record.
  • About 40,000 participants  took part in the Marathon which was organized in the category of 5, 11, 21 and 42 kilometers spreading message across not only to people of Yamunanagar but also to the country and world to follow the traffic rules  while driving so as to ensure safety of ourselves and also of others.      
  • Buoyed with the massive turnout in the Marathon organized on the theme of safety of citizens and to make the people aware about traffic rules, Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal said that Haryana and its people have always played a vital role in resolving various issues in the society and the country. Earlier also, Marathons have been organized in different districts of the State on various important issues like drugs, national unity etc , the positive impact of which is clearly visible in the society, he said adding that with the massive presence of people in the today’s event, he is quite sure that the theme with which Marathon has been organized here would definitely be achieved.
  • While hailing the contribution of Haryanvis in different fields, he said that its people have always be in the forefront in sports, agriculture, education, engineering, trade etc but in the last few years, they have  gain even more momentum. Besides, people of the State are giving their vital contribution in the development of the society and country. In the same series, such marathons are being organized in the State to make people  aware about the problems prevailing in the society as drug not only ruined the life of individual but of the whole family  and have a negative impact on the entire society, he asserted.
  • He also expressed concern on the increasing number of causalities in the road accidents and said keeping in the view the sensitivity of the situation, the State Government decided to organize Drive Safe Marathon - Run for Road Safety.
  • On this occasion, the artists of different cultural troupes gave energetic performances for the participants of Marathon which was appreciated by all.
  • While in 21 kms Marathon, Rinu Kumar, Rajinder Nath and Amarpreet Singh were declared winners in the men’s category, Kairen of Kenya, Mamta of Ambala and Pratibha of Yamunangar declared winners in the women’s category. Similarly, in the 42 kms Marathon, Toy Babekar of Ethiopia, Jitender and Ankit Kumar of Uttar Pradesh were declared winners in the men’s category and Divyanka of Yamunangar, Lakshmi of Lukhnow and Amandeep Kaur of Ambala declared winners in the women’s category. The winners were honoured by  presenting them with a cheque of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively and Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
  • Earlier, Mr Manohar Lal inaugurated a new Anaj Mandi at Saraswati Nagar constructed over an area of 4.4 acres at  a cost of Rs 2.80 crore.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18 : A State level seminar will be organized by Haryana Horticulture Department on  January 23,  2019 in Tokas village of Hisar for the awareness of the farmers about the adverse effects of pesticides and safety measures.
  • While giving details, an official spokesman said that the increasing use of pesticides in agriculture and horticulture is proving to be dangerous for everyone.  Use of pesticides is the cause of many types of diseases in the human beings. Thus for the awareness of the famers about adverse effects of pesticides, a State level seminar would be organised near Arya Nagar Bypass in Tokas village on January 23 at 11 am.  The farmers would be provided detailed information on the alternatives for pesticides including its safety measures.  
  • He said that Dr. Arjun Saini, Director General Horticulture Department would be the Chief Guest. Besides this, experts from different departments would also be present in the seminar to provide information about various schemes for the benefit of the farmers. The farmers are urged to reach the seminar so as to avail the maximum benefit from the knowledge, he added.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18 – Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Haryana Police has seized 7.320 kg of doda post from a person riding on a scooty from Auto Market area in district Sirsa.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that arrested accused has been identified as Tajinder Singh, a resident of Hari Vishnu Colony, Kirtinagar, Sirsa.
  • Divulging the details about seizure, he said a CIA team was present in auto market, kanganpur road area during patrolling. As soon as the accused saw the police, he tried to run away but police caught him. When searched 7.320 kg doda post was recovered from his possession. A case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused at City Police Station, Sirsa. He will be taken on remand by producing in the Court.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18 – A delegation of Government Polytechnic Guest Faculty Association today met Haryana Technical Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma and presented him their demand charter. The Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education Department, Mr. Anil Kumar was also present on the occasion.
  • The Minister said that the Government Polytechnic Guest Faculty has demanded the issue of a letter for work and pay for 12 months and also demanded re-appointment of those Guest faculties who were removed. On which, Mr Sharma has directed the officers of the department to review the matter and take appropriate action.
  • The delegation included Mr Samunder Singh, Ms Ekta, Ms Diya, Mr Balraj and others.
  • Apart from this, a delegation of All Government Colleges Ministerial Staff Association met the Minister and presented their demands charter. Their demands included sanction of the post of Superintendent in all government colleges, preparing of seniority list of clerical class after 2006, promotion case on completion of five years on Clerical post, promotion on the posts from Assistant to Assistant Superintendent, fresh recruitment for filling up of vacant posts of clerks and by promotion. The delegation included Head of Association, Mr Manish Kumar, Mr Sunil, Mr Ashok, Mr Sunny and Mr Manoj.
  • The Technical Education Minister assured the members of the delegation that appropriate actions would be taken after reviewing their demands.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18 – The Deputy Commissioner, Jind and District Election Officer, Mr Amit Khatri said that this time, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines would be used in the bye-elections to Jind assembly constituency on January 28, 2019. For this, senior officers would be trained to make use of the machines. This training would be being from 9 am on January 21.
  • Mr Khatri said that it is important to get this training as this time VVPAT machines would be used in this Bye-election. He said that in order to conduct the election procedure in a fair and transparent manner, eight Sector Magistrates have been deputed. After allotting them areas, they would do all kinds of activities related to elections.
  • The eight Sector Magistrates who have been posted included  Executive Engineer, Public Health and Engineering Department, Mr Sanjay Sharma, DMEO, Marketing Board, Mr Hawa Singh Khobra, Executive Engineer, Public Health and Engineering Department, Mr Harbhajan Singh, ME, Municipal Council, Mr Satish Garg, Food and Supply Officer, Mr Rajesh Kumar, District Horticulture Officer, Mr Virender Hooda, Deputy Director, Agriculture, Mr Surender Singh, and Programme Officer of Women and Child Development Department, Ms Usha Muwal.
  • The four Flying Squads formed included  Executive Engineer, Public Health and Engineering Department, Mr Satish Kumar, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Mr Navneet, Executive Engineer, Water Resources department, Mr Dharamvir Singh and Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry, Mr  Ravinder Hooda.
  • He said that 13 officers have been allotted the duty of Supervisor, which included Principal, Government Senior Secondary School Nagura, Mr Hoshiar Singh, Satyender Singh of Alewa, Rajender Singh of Raichandwala, Mr Pradeep Kumar of Shamdon, Mr Ghasi Ram of Pegon School, Mr Krishan Kumar of Nagura, Mr Naveen Nara of DIET IKKAS, Mr Kalyan Singh Chahal of Intel Kalan School, Mr Rajpal Deshwal  of Ahirka, Mr Krishan Singh of Ghimana, Mr Jairam of Jajawan, Mr Sushil Kumar Jain of Manoharpur and Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Bibipur, Mr Surender Kumar.
  • The Deputy Commissioner directed all these officers to get training of EVM and VVPAT machine on January 21.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal directed the officers of the concerned departments  to complete various ongoing development works announced by him for the development of district Yamunanagar at the earliest.
  • The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting to review the progress of CM announcements in Yamunanagar late last evening. On this occasion, he reviewed 317 announcements made him for different assembly segments of the district. Vidhan Sabha Speaker and MLA Jagadhari, Mr Kanwar Pal was also present in the meeting.
  • He directed the officers concerned to ensure that tenders of remaining works under the CM announcements  of district are alloted by February 15, 2019. They would also ensure that work is started immediately after the tender process so that people could get the benefit of these works at the earliest, he added.  He also issued directions for the widening of road from Bilaspur to Chhachrauli to 10 meters under CM announcement.
  • The Deputy Commissioner, Yamunanagar, Mr Girish Arora assured the Chief Minister of speedy implementation of CM announcements in the district.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 18: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will lay the foundation stone of Haryana Bhawan in Narmada (Gujarat) on January 19 and would take part in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar on January 20, during his visit to the states of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh from January 19 to January 22, 2019.
  • While giving details, an official spokesman said that after laying the foundation stone of Haryana Bhawan on January 19, the Chief Minister would also visit the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Statue of Unity and Museum.  After this, he would attend the programme at Sabarmati Riverfront to be hosted by Director, INDEXB. On the same day, a dinner would be hosted by the Chief Minister for industrialists of Haryana origin in Gujarat.
  • He said that on January 20, the Chief Minister would take part in Haryana State Seminar during Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar and thereafter, would visit the Haryana State Pavilion Exhibition there. He would have one-to-one meetings with industrialists and would visit Dandi Kutir – the Gandhi Museum in Gandhinagar.  
  • In the evening, the Chief Minister would have meeting with Union External Affairs Minister, Mrs Sushma Swaraj at Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).  He would also have one-to-one meeting with High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs) at the hotel.
  • He said that on January 21, the Chief Minister would take part in the inauguration of Youth Pravasi Bhartiya Divas at Deendayal Hastkala Sankul at Lalpur in Varanasi. Thereafter, he would visit the Haryana State Pavilion. The Chief Minister would also have round table meeting with Francophone (GOPIO) delegation. On the same day, he would also have an interactive session with non-Haryanvi residents and one-to-one meetings with prominent personalities of industrial sector.  The Chief Minister would also visit Maha Kumbh on January 21 and 22 at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, he added.
