  • Chandigarh, Jan 21 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said, “We all should take a pledge to serve the nation. This will make both the society and the nation empowered.
  • The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh today.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal said that after reaching the divine Kumbh, he has got the feeling of contentment. This is the world's biggest religious festival and the manner in which the arrangements have been made these are highly appreciable. He said that on January 25, 1979, after taking holy bath in Sangam, he took the pledge to serve the nation and since then he has been discharging his duty sincerely.
  • He said, “I have come from the land where Lord Shri Krishna gave an immortal message of the Gita in Kurukshetra for the welfare of mankind. For spreading and promoting knowledge of  Gita on a global scale, we have  been organising  Gita Mahotsav at international level”. He said that not only this, but the International Gita Festival will also be celebrated in Mauritius in February this year.
  • Addressing the present devotees, Chief Minister said that in Prayagraj, there is a confluence of three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Out of these rivers, the Saraswati River, which is not visible now, originates in Adibadri of Haryana.
  • After reaching Panchayati Akhara Nirmal, the Chief Minister paid obeisance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib and prayed to the Almighty for the progress and prosperity of the state. He also took a round of exhibition on martyrdom of Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Zorar Singh. He also visited various saints in Prayagraj and took blessings from him.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 21– Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that free vaccine would be given to employees and doctors in hospitals across the state, who are engaged in treatment of severe diseases such as Swine Flu, to ensure their safety from such diseases.
  • Mr. Vij said that the State Government is committed towards ensuring good health and safety of people. Therefore, decision to this effect has been taken and directions have been issued to Director General Health Department for immediate implementation of this decision.
  • He said that there is information that eight patients suffering from Swine Flu had died during treatment in private hospitals, but no death has been registered in government hospitals across the state as a result of the quality treatment being provided there.
  • The Health Minister said that about 150 cases of Swine Flu have been registered in districts of the state adjoining borders with neighbouring states namely Rajasthan, Delhi and Punjab. He directed all government hospitals to make arrangements of adequate amount of medicines, diagnosis equipment and other facilities so that the disease could be stopped from spreading.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 21 – In view of the preparations of the bye-elections to Jind Assembly Constituency, a training programme was organised at Patwar Bhavan in Jind today. Necessary training regarding use of VVPAT and EVM was given to all the Sector Magistrates, Duty Magistrates and Sector Supervisors appointed for the election purpose.
  • In the training programme, Master Trainer, Dr. Surajmal gave detailed information to the officials regarding the installation of machines and their functioning. The officials themselves used the machines so that they may not face any problem while using them.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 21 – In view of the bye-elections to Jind Assembly Constituency, different political parties and candidates would be allowed to hold rallies and public meetings at designated places only. As many as ten places have been identified for this purpose.
  • Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer, Mr. Amit Khatri said that as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the District Administration has identified places in the Jind Assembly Constituency area for holding rallies and public meetings. The rallies and public meetings will be held at designated places only, he added.
  • He said that the places identified included empty ground new stadium Haibatpur road, empty ground near new bus stand, new kath mandi Rohtak road, HUDA ground opposite BSNL Bhawan, old anaj mandi, new anaj mandi Rohtak road, Sector 8 HUDA ground near poly clinic, Saini Ram Leela Ground and new sabzi mandi.
  • Chandigarh, January 21–  Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), an organisation working for popularization of science in the country, in association with J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad organised a State Level Camp under Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM), a nationwide science talent search and conducted multi-level exam. As many as 126 participants appeared in the camp and the examination.
  • The aim behind this camp and competition was to select students with scientific temperament from class VI to XI, across the state, which will further participate and represent Haryana in National Level Camp to be held in May this year. On the basis of camp and examination, 18 students, three each from class VI to XI, were selected to represent Haryana at National level.
  • It may be noted that Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is initiated by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) an institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.
  • The first National Level Examination which was conducted from November 25 to 28, 2018 in which around 1.47 Lakh students from across the country appeared. From Haryana, more than 8000 students from different Schools  appeared, out of which 147 students were selected to attend the first State Camp conducted by Haryana Vigyan Parishad.
  • During the camp, the participants had undergone multilevel competition such as skill test for creative writing, experimental skill, presentation, leadership qualities, creative thinking and innovative learning and as many as 18 students were selected on the basis of examination, in which 126 students appeared.
  • The successful students were awarded with prize money, certificate and mementos by Dr. B.K. Kuthiala, Chairman; Haryana Higher Education Council, who was the chief guest of Valedictory Function who also motivated the students with his words. In his address, Dr. Kuthiala talked about the contribution of science in every field of work.
  • The programme was presided over by Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, J.C. Bose University. Mr. Jayantrao Sahasrabuddhe, organising secretary, Vijnana Bharti was also present on this occasion. In his address, Prof. Dinesh Kumar applauded the efforts made by VIBHA though the competition for promoting science among students. He said that it is unique initiative to give a boost to learning of science, technology and and mathematics among youth-especially the school students. 
  • Dr. Ranjana Aggarwal, member of VIBHA appreciated the examination pattern of VVM which helps to identify and enrich young children to understand and know Indian Contribution to science as well as read about two Indian scientists biography and contribution as a special study material provided by Vijnana Bharati for VVM syllabus. 
  • Earlier, in the inaugural session, Dr. Rajneesh Arora, former Vice Chancellor of Punjab Technical University, Governing Council Member (VIBHA), Vijnana Bharti addressed and interacted with the students and parents to motivate them and inspire for the career in science and why Swadeshi Science is the need of our country. He also encourages volunteers for the social responsibility and how Vijnana Bharathi is one of the medium to the social service. State Co-ordinator of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, Dr. Vinod Kumar thanked the participants for making the camp successful. The program in the University was coordinated by Dr. Sonia Bansal.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 21– Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the State Government would establish a special cell which would take strict action against those indulged in sending people to foreign countries in unauthorized manner. Apart from this, FIRs have been registered against 21 such persons in the state who were indulged in sending people to foreign countries in this manner.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal gave this information during his meeting with Union External Affairs Minister, Ms Sushma Swaraj at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh late last evening. The Union Minister said that  some agents send people abroad without visa and documents, and after reaching there, they have to face many difficulties. Mr. Manohar Lal said that such agents would be identified and strict action would be taken against them.
  • The Chief Minister  also sought assistance from the External Affairs Ministry   for pilgrimage of people of the state   to Shri Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Pakistan.  On the request of the Chief Minister, Ms. Sushma Swaraj assured him that all possible help  would be provided in this regard.
  • The Chief Minister thanked the Union Minister and said that prior to this, the Haryana Government had also facilitated the people of the state in pilgrimage to Darbar Sahib in Patna.
  • The Union Minister said that the Ministry of External Affairs has set up a cell under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary related to investment in states. On this, the Chief Minister said that through this cell, all possibilities would be explored of promoting investment opportunities in Haryana. Apart from this, through this cell, other countries could be contacted for investment. He said that Haryana would extend full support to the Ministry of External Affairs to promote  economic diplomacy.
  • Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also met Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal in Varanasi and discussed various issues. They also held discussions on sports and facilities being provided to sportspersons in the state and across the country.
  • After this, the Chief Minister met with prominent NRI industrialists. During interaction with US industrialist Ms Priya Tandon, she informed  that her company would provide better facilities by using machines based on modern technology in association with Kalpana Chawla Medical University, being set up in Karnal and would make such arrangements that any patient or his family need not stand in a queue. The Chief Minister said arrangement of ambulances equipped with ultra modern facilities should be made available near airports adjoining Haryana to provide immediate health care facilities to patients coming from other states.
  • During meeting with the Chief Minister, Managing Director, Tyagi Helms International Interiors, Kuwait, Mr Rajpal Tyagi and his wife informed that daily needs right from food to clothing required  in Kuwait is imported from other countries. Many Kuwaiti investors are exploring the possibilities of investment in Haryana. 
  • Those present on the occasion included Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Mr Devender Singh, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr V. Umashankar, ADC to Chief Minister, Mr Alok Verma, Managing Director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC), Dr Narhari Singh Banger, Chairman, Foreign Investment Haryana, Mr Gaurav Agarwal, General Manager, HSIIDC, Mr. Mahavir Singh and other senior officers of the State Government.
