  • Chandigarh, Jan 25- Haryana Chief Secretary, Mr D.S. Dhesi said that Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha Elections would be conducted this year and the government system is fully prepared for the successful conduct of elections. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner,” he added.
  • The Chief Secretary was addressing the gathering during the State-Level function organised on the occasion of National Voters Day in Ambala today.
  • Mr Dhesi said that according to data, the population of the country is about 135 crore, out of which 50 per cent of the population is below the age of 25 years, which is about 68 crore. Sixty-five percent of the population is below 35 years of age. He said that India is the world’s largest democracy, thus, all the eligible persons should get their Voters card made and also ensure 100 per cent voting. 
  • He said that with time, the electoral system in India has changed. Earlier, paper ballot was adopted, later Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were used in the electoral process and now, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) has come for better transparency. Through this, any voter after casting his vote could see in next seven seconds,  the candidate for whom he has cast the vote.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Secretary also launched the Voter’s Helpline Toll-Free Number 1950 and said that any person can call on this toll-free number to get voting-related information. He also directed  officers during the state level function to organise camps at educational institutions located in their respective areas, to encourage the eligible voters to get their voters card made. Mr Dhesi said that social media is good medium to exchange good news but the people must refrain from posting fake news on social media. On the occasion, he administered Voter's Oath to the officers present and also flagged off awareness van.
  • Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Rajiv Ranjan said that through this Voter Helpline Toll-Free Number, the voters would be able to get all updated information related to voting, while sitting at home. One can get information by sending an SMS or making a call on ‘1950’. The Election Commission of India has issued the toll-free number 1950 for the convenience of the voters.
  • He said that all information related to voters’ name, address, booth etc would be available on entering Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) number. He said that if any voter wants to get information from any district, they can get the information on dialing STD code before the toll-free number.  
  • He said that all calls received on the toll-free number would be recorded and the facility of voice message would also be given to the voters to provide them all information. Besides this, the voters would also be able to resolve their elections related problems.
  • District Electoral Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Ambala, Mrs Sharandeep Kaur also spoke on the occasion.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25 : The Haryana Government has posted Apurv (HCS), Joint Director (Admn.), Industries and Commerce department as Joint Chief Electoral Officer with immediate effect.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal will unfurl the National Flag on the occasion of 70th Republic Day celebrations at Bhim Sports Complex, Bhiwani. On the occasion, he would also honour freedom fighters and war widows. 
  • The Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of over 12 projects to the tune of crores of rupees in District Bhiwani, after the celebrations of Republic Day from Bhim Sports Complex, Bhiwani.
  • The Chief Minister would inaugurate the four projects from the Bhim Stadium. The projects included newly constructed independent water works at the cost of Rs 1.85 crore in village Sayarpur in Tehsil Loharu, new building in Bhim Stadium at the cost of Rs 3.25 crore, new building of Government ITI at the cost of Rs 3.35 crore, Sub Fire Station at the cost of over Rs 2.18 crore.  
  • The Chief Minister would also lay the foundation stone of over eight projects. The projects included Beautification of Ponds scheme in Bhiwani City at the cost of over Rs 10.13 crore,  link road Hassan to Devrala at the cost of over Rs 2.47 crore, reconstruction of Rajbaha RD 107200-189600 at the cost of over Rs 19.78 crore and reconstructed Rajbaha RD 0-67120 at the cost of over Rs 16.81 crore, improvement of Tosham-Bhiwani Bye Pass in Bhiwani city at the cost of over Rs 9.88 crore,  construction of sub Fire station, Loharu at the cost of Rs 83.86 lakh, construction of Independent Water works in village Dhoolkot, Tehsil Siwani and in village Bithhan, Loharu sub-division, at the cost of about Rs 3 crore and Rs 3.10 crore, respectively and Government Women College in village Kairu  at the cost of over Rs 6.59 crore.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25- The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Jind, Mr Amit Khatri has issued directions for the conduct of Bye-elections in a free and fair manner and to keep liquor shops closed on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, in district Jind. The day has been declared Dry Day in the district. All the owners of liquor shops have been directed to keep their shops closed for the prescribed time period, else, strict actions would be taken against them.
  • Mr Khatri said that January 28 is the day of Poll for the Bye-election in Jind Assembly Constituency. Therefore, to conduct the elections in a free and fair manner, directions have been issued to keep the shops closed for 48 hours before the election. The shops would be closed from January 26,   5 pm to January 28, 5 pm. The counting of votes would be done on January 31 and the result of elections would also be announced the same day. Directions have also been issued to keep liquor shops closed till the counting of votes is completed on January 31.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25 : The Haryana Government has nominated Mr Praveen Aggarwal of Gurugram as non-official member  of District Public Relations and Grievances Committee, Gurugram with immediate effect.
  • A notification to this effect has been issued by Grievances Department, Haryana.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25 – Thirteen Haryana police officers have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, 2019.
  • Stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that Mr Gurmeet Singh, Inspector, Karnal has been awarded with the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service whereas 12 others would receive Police Medal for meritorious service.
  • Those who have been decorated with Police Medal for meritorious service included Mr Manbir Singh, Superintendent of Police, State Vigilance Bureau, Mr Karan Singh, Inspector, Karnal, Mr Narender Kumar, Inspector, Faridabad, Mr Deepak Singh, Inspector Police headquarter, Mr Satyawan, Sub-Inspector, Kaithal, Mr Virender Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Madhuban, Mr Ravinder Kumar, ASI, Ambala, Mr Satpal, Exemptee ASI, Panchkula, Mr Ramesh Chand, EASI Ambala, Mrs Sushila Kaushik, Lady ASI Panchkula, Mrs Ranvir Kaur, Lady EASI, Chandigarh and Mrs Anuradha, Lady EASI, Panchkula.
  • Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr B.S. Sandhu congratulated all the police officers who have been decorated with police medals on the occasion of Republic Day.  “It is a great honour for the entire police force. The recognition of tireless and relentless efforts of Haryana Police officers at the national level would go a long way to further boost the morale of state police force”, he added.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25: The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 13.22 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 145.09 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced a maximum of over 2.49 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 26.34 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced over 2.02 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 23.10 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal which has produced over 1.55 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 16.57 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, has produced over 1.37 quintals of sugar by crushing 14.70 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Similarly, the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 1.25 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 15.08 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Gohana has produced  1.07 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 12.29 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 96,165 quintals of sugar by crushing 10.10 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill,  Panipat has produced 90,250 quintals of sugar by crushing 9.54 lakh quintals of sugarcane, and Cooperative Sugar Mill Sonipat has produced 46,200 quintals of sugar by crushing 5.49 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced 1.49 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 16.88 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 9.51 per cent.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 25 – Haryana Director General of Police (Headquarters), Mr K.K. Mishra today administered pledge to police officers and officials on the occasion of National Voters Day in a function held at Police headquarters, Sector-6, Panchkula.
  • Mr Mishra administered the pledge of having abiding faith in democracy and maintaining the dignity of democratic values and free, fair and peaceful election.
  • The Police officers and officials took pledge to use their voting rights in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement.
  • Among others present on the occasion included Director General of Police (Crime) Mr P.K. Agrawal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Mohd. Akil, ADGP Crime Against Women, Mr Ajay Singhal, ADGP Operations and IT Mr A.S. Chawla, IGP Modernization, Mr H.S. Doon, AIG Provisioning, Mr Vikas Dhankhar, Superintendent of Police, Crime Against Women Mrs Manisha Chaudhary and other police officers and officials.
  • Chandigarh, January 25– With the view to inculcate the sense of cleanliness in students, the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad has introduced cash award for ‘Cleanest Hostel Room’ for students residing in the University hostels. This award has been conceptualised by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Kumar to motivate and make the students responsible for cleanliness of University campus.
  • The first of its kind cash awards of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3000 for first three positions, respectively, were presented to the students by the Vice Chancellor in a function organised in hostel premises. The first prize won by students named Hitesh Kumar, Virender Kumar and Mandeep of Nehru Hostel. Similarly, second prize bagged by Amod Raina, Parth Munchi and Sidharth Tinku of Zakir Hostel and third prize won by Abhishek, Savita and Shivam Bhatt of Nehru Hostel. Hostel Wardens Dr. Mahesh Chand and Dr. Om Prakash Mishra were also present on this occasion.
  • Addressing the students, Vice Chancellor said that cleanliness is not just a task but it is a way of life. Cleanliness should be a matter of daily habit and not just confined to occasional cleanliness drives; he added and exhorted students to inculcate good habits and purity in thoughts as well. He also announced to extend the ‘Cleanest Hostel Room’ competition further for next semester and if it gets the good results, it will continue even further, he added.
  • While giving the details about ‘Cleanest Hostel Room’ competition, Chief Hostel Warden Dr. Vikas Turk said that on the direction of Vice Chancellor, the competition was initially conducted in the boy’s hostel. During the competition, all the hostel rooms were inspected and evaluated by the respective hostel wardens on the parameters such as cleanliness in room, proper arrangement of books and other stuffs in organised manner, use of dustbin and obey of hostel bye-laws by students. He said that students not only actively participated in the competition but it has immensely contributed in the cleanliness of the hostel, he added.
