  • Chandigarh, Jan 31- BJP’s candidate Mr Krishan Lal Midha won the Jind Bye-election by defeating Independent candidate Mr Digvijay Singh, with a huge difference of 12,930 votes.  Congress Candidate, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala was on the third place.
  • While giving this information after the completion of voting process, the Deputy Commission (DC), Jind, Dr Amit Khatri said that the counting of votes had begun on its scheduled time today at 8 am.
  • General Observer, Mr Saurabh Bhagat, Dr Amit Khatri, Returning Officers of Jind and SDM, Mr Virender Sehrawat handed over the certificate of victory to the winning candidate Mr Krishan Lal Midha.
  • He said that a total of 130,859 people had cast their vote, of which 50,578 votes were received for Mr Krishan Lal Midha. Independent candidate, Mr Digvijay Singh, who is at second place, received 37,648 votes and Congress Candidate, Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala who is at third place, received 22,742 votes, Candidate of Loktantra Surakha Party, Mr Vinod Ashari received 13,582 votes and 345 voters voted for NOTA.
  • He said that during the counting of votes, 48 postal ballot papers were received, of which 31 ballot papers were correct and the 17 incorrect papers were rejected.  Out of 31, Independent candidate, Mr Digvijay Singh got 17 votes, BJP candidate Mr Krishan Lal Midha got 12 votes and Indian National Congress candidate, Mr  Randeep Singh Surjewala got two votes.
  • He said that in this election, 22 candidates including the NOTA were in the electoral fray, candidate of Indian National Lok Dal, Mr Umaid Redhu got 3,454 votes, candidate of Indian Social Justice Party, Mr Kamal Kumar got 149, candidate of Ambedkar Samaj Party, Mr Rajpal got 52, candidate of Samajik Nayay Party, Mr Radhey Shyam got 360, candidate of National Labour Ekta Party, Mrs Sheetal Devi got 131, People's Party of India candidate, Mrs Sunita Rani got 69, candidate of Republican Party of India Mr Sunil Kumar got 166, Independent Candidate Mr Om Prakash got 128, Independent candidate St Dharamvir Chautiwala got 170, Prabhati Ram got 249, Vijender got 239, Mange Ram got 276, Master Ramesh Khatri got 95, Ravinder Kumar got 200, Satpal got 119, Sandeep Kumar got 67 and Surender Bibipur got 40 votes.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 31– The 33rd Surajkund International Crafts Mela-2019 will be inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr. Devendra Fadnavis and Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal will preside over the inaugural ceremony on February 1, 2019 at 11 p.m. The Mela will be open from February 1 to 17, 2019, daily from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Haryana Tourism Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, Maharashtra Minister of Tourism and Employment Guarantee Scheme, Mr. Jaykumar Rawal, Ambassador of Thailand in India, Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Pal , Haryana Industries Minister, Mr Vipul Goel, M.L.A., Bhadkal, Mrs. Seema Trikha, M.L.A., Ballabhgarh, Mr. Mool Chand Sharma, M.L.A., Prithala, Mr. Tek Chand Sharma and Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corporation, Mr. Jagdish Chopra along with many other dignitaries will grace the occasion.
  • While stating this here today,  Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana Tourism, Mr. Vijai Vardhan   said that Maharashtra is the ‘Theme State’ of the 33rd Surajkund International Crafts Mela 2019, which is showcasing its unique culture and rich heritage through various art forms and handicrafts from the state. Hundreds of artistes from Maharashtra will be performing different folk arts and dances. From traditional dances and art forms to ballets based on Shivaji Maharaj, there is a bouquet of heritage and culture from Maharashtra to enthral the audience. Also a replica of ‘Maha Dwar or Maha Darwaza’, the main entrance of the historic hill fort of the Raigad promises to be the main attraction of this year’s Mela.
  • He said that this crafts mela helps thousands of craftsperson from across India to showcase their art and products to a wider audience. Thus, the Mela has also helped in reviving the heritage crafts of India. Keeping in pace with the times, online tickets are made available through portals like bookmyshow.com, to help visitors easily enter mela premises without the hassles of long queues. Special buses will run from various points to carry visitors from the surrounding areas to the mela site.
  • He said that this year more than 30 countries will be part of the Mela, which include the Partner Nation - Thailand. There will be enthusiastic participation from Nepal, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Senegal, Zambia, Comoros, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, South Africa, Austria, Netherland, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Niger, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Ghana, Seychelles, Ethiopia, Morocco, Palestine, Bhutan, Uganda, Armenia, Maldives, Sudan, Kenya and Democratic Republic of Congo. To enliven the visitors’ mood, scintillating performances will be presented by international folk artistes from the participating countries.
  • A variety of day performers will enthral the visitors like at the Been Party, Nagara Party, Ragini, Bagpiper Group from Haryana, Kachhi Ghori from Rajasthan, Nachaar Group from Punjab, puppet show, magic show, Live Demonstration of Hath Ki Chakki and the ever famous Behrupiyas, who will keep the crowds entertained with their enchanting talent and showmanship within the Mela ground.
  • Enthralling evening cultural performances during the Mela fortnight will entertain the visitors to the hilt.  ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ by renowned poets, resonating qawwalis, dance performances, mesmerizing Sri Lanka Day celebrations, soulful sufi performance of Punjabi singers, melodious bollywood numbers by various artists, besides adrenaline-rushing dance and song shows of Maharashtra, partner nation and other international artists will also be organised during the mela days  from 6 pm onwards.
  • Mr Vijay Vardhan said that the Mela ground is spread over 40 acres of land and houses over 1,000 work huts for craftspersons and a multi-cuisine food court, which is immensely popular with visitors. This year, visitors can relish mouth-watering cuisines including authentic flavours of Maharashtra, Haryana, sumptuous Mughlai, subtle aromas of the South and oriental flavours of Chinese along with Indian street food and other state specialities at the food court. Also, state-owned Institutes of Hotel Management of Faridabad and Panipat would dish out various ethnic delicacies.
  • Keeping pace with the Information Technology (IT) advancements, the Mela entry tickets can be booked online on www.bookmyshow.com. The girl students of government and government-aided Schools will be given free entry to the Mela on weekdays, as a part of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign of Haryana government. Also War widows and Freedom fighters will be given free entry with valid ID proof. As a corporate social responsibility initiative, the Surajkund Mela Authority provides 50 per cent rebate on the entry tickets to the differently-abled persons, senior citizens and serving defense personnel and ex- servicemen.
  • To encourage youth participation, a discount of 50 per cent on entry tickets is being given to college students on weekdays on the production of valid ID cards. On February 9, a Maharashtra themed Fashion Show will be organised, which will showcase the splendour of the state’s handlooms and weaving styles. A special amusement zone with swings and rides has been created for wholesome family entertainment. A number of competitions would be organised for school students.
  • Exporters and Buyers Meet would be organised during the Mela fortnight that offers a ready support system for craftspersons to access and tap the export market. To beef up security arrangements, CCTV Cameras have been installed in the Mela ground along with the Night Vision Cameras. A large number of security personnel, including women guards, have been deployed in the Mela premises to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incident or mishap. Fire Brigade team and medical teams will be available for any emergency throughout the Mela. Disaster Management Plan or Evacuation Plan is in place with state-of-the-art medical, fire and disaster management facilities at all crucial points. Bank, dispensary, mela police control room and CCTV control room are located at a centralized location so that visitors and participants can have easy access to these essential services. A complete ban is imposed on the plastic and polythene bags within the Mela premises.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 31- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today inaugurated a Rest House of Public Works Department at Sector-1 in Panchkula constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 35.48 crore and laid the foundation stone of Railway Over Bridge in Sector-19 to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 30.54 crore.  Soon, an AYUSH AIIMS will be developed on 35 acres area in Panchkula. Besides this, Panchkula would be developed like Gurugram which has Medicity and Educity.
  • The Chief Minister was addressing people, near here today. Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh and MLA, Panchkula, Mr Gian Chand Gupta were also present on the occasion.
  • The Chief Minister said that the district Panchkula is of great significance as it has the headquarters of various departments. Therefore, no stone would be left unturned in the development of the district. In the last four years, about Rs 2,000 crore development works had been announced for the district and work on which is under progress.  
  • The Railway Over Bridge in Sector-19 would be completed in 15 months and it was long pending demand of the people. The newly inaugurated four-storeyed Rest House has 107 rooms. A similar, state-of-the-art Rest house has also been constructed in Gurugram. Both the rest houses would offer stay facility to people coming to Chandigarh or Delhi for work purpose and also stay facility to officers and employees. 
  • The Chief Minister assured the people that the Panchkula district would be developed more than district Gurugram. There would be no dearth of funds for the development of the district. Panchkula is also considered Mini capital of Haryana. He said that Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran has also been asked to provide land for Haryana Lokayukta office. In Panchkula, construction of Solid Waste Management, multi-purpose hall of an international level at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex and construction of water works, have also got done.
  • Rao Narbir Singh said that this rest house has been constructed in record time and now, the rest houses in Panipat, Palwal, Gharaunda and Rewari are also being modernized. Soon, online booking facility would also be provided for this.
  • MLA, Gian Chand Gupta expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for getting record development in district Panchkula and he also  demanded construction of an underpass at sector 12 A, 20 and 21 Panchkula on National Highway and also requested to lay the foundation stone of providing houses to people of Rajiv Colony, Indira Colony, Kharag Mogoli, before Lok Sabha elections.

  • Chandigarh, Jan 31 – Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that on the occasion of National Deworming Day on February 8, 2019, medicine would be given to children aged between one to 19 years to make each youngster worm free. A target has been set to cover about 93 lakh children in the state.
  • This was informed in a meeting of the Department held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Rajiv Arora, here today. He said that mop-up round would be carried out on February 14 to cover the left out children on February 8 in which the medicine would be given to all the remaining children.
  • He said that under this, all children in government and private schools would be covered. The dose would be given in more than 15,000 government institutions, about 26,000 anganwadi centres and about 8,000 private schools.
  • He said that the Department had covered 77.8 lakh students in the round of dose in August 2018. However, the target is bigger this year. The ASHA workers and other employees of the Department would assist in achieving the set target, he added.
  • Those present in the meeting included Mission Director, National Health Mission, Mrs. Amneet P. Kumar, Director General Health Services, Dr. Satish Aggarwal and other senior officers of the Department.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 31: Haryana Government has given Kushal Kataria (HCS), Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad Rewari and CEO, DRDA, Rewari, the additional charge of Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Bawal, relieving Vinesh Kumar of the said charge.
  • Chandigarh January 31: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha would be completed before the model code of conduct comes into force for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

  • He said that the meeting of State Cabinet is scheduled to be held on February 4, 2019 here in which the date of the commencement of Budget Session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha would be finalized
