  • Chandigarh, March 1 - Giving uniform development of the state a decisive push, the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of as many as 209 new projects worth Rs 4,276.26 crore in different districts of the state through digital link from the Haryana Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, on March 3, 2019. These projects belong to different departments of the state.
  • Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that while 63 projects worth Rs 1,010.59 crore would be inaugurated, foundation stones would be laid of 146 others worth Rs 3265.67 crore.
  • Among the major projects, the project to be inaugurated included Mewat Feeder Canal Project of Irrigation Department amounting to Rs 633 crore. Similarly, the foundation stones to be laid of projects amounting to more than Rs 100 crore included modernization of Dahar Sugar Mill in Panipat at a cost of Rs 300 crore, Public Works (Building and Roads) Department’s project of four laning of road from Karnal Chirao Mor to Kaithal costing Rs 175 crore, the Integrated City Operated Plaform Project in Faridabad of Urban Local Bodies Department costing Rs 159.40 crore, Civil Aviation Department’s project of Aviation Hub Phase-2 at Hisar costing Rs 156 crore, Higher Education Department’s project of establishing Sanskrit University at Mundri of Kaithal at a cost of Rs 150 crore and establishing Dental college in the campus of Shaheed Hassan Khan Mewati Government Medical College at Nalhar (Nuh) at a cost of Rs 150 crore and Public Health Engineering Department’s drinking water project at Bhalkhi of district Mahendragarh costing Rs 114.70 crore.
  • Chandigarh, Mar 1 – Union Minister of Textiles, Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani has launched Certificate Courses of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Panchkula through video conferencing. Also, the brochure of Certificate Course was released through video conferencing. The institute would have 20 per cent seats reserved for students from Haryana.
  • Director General, Technical Education Department, Mr. A. Sreenivas said that total five certificate courses, which would be offered at NIFT, included Fashion Clothing and Technology, Design Development for Indian Ethnic Wear, Fashion and Media Communication, Textile for Interiors and Fashion, and Fashion Knitwear Production and Technology. The students possessing 10+2 (without any upper age limit) will be eligible to take admission in these programmes, he added.
  • He said that the foundation stone of NIFT campus Panchkula was also laid by Mrs. Smriti Zubin Irani on December 29, 2016. The NIFT campus is being built-up over 10.45 acres in sector 23 Panchkula with the State-of-the-Art Infrastructure equipped with modern professional resources for catering to the Textile, Handloom and Apparel Industry. The State Government has allocated a budget of Rs. 133 crore for establishment of NIFT Panchkula. The building of NIFT in Sector-23 Panchkula is under construction through Haryana Police Housing Corporation at full swing and is likely to be completed by December 2020.
  • He said that the aim of establishing NIFT is to develop Textile, Handloom and Cottage Industry in Haryana as well as development of local area.
  • Mr. A. Sreenivas said that NIFT offers, at all its 16 campuses across the country, a learning experience of the highest standards in fashion pertaining to design, technology and management and encourages remarkably creative student body to draw inspiration from India’s textile and craft while focusing on emerging global trends relevant to the industries. Besides conducting regular professional undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Design, Management and Technology, NIFT also offers short duration courses under Continuing Education (CE).
  • He said that the Continuing Education Certificate Programmes are aimed at complementing the practical knowledge of industry professionals with formal technical education in their respective areas of work. The flexible schedule enables the participants to pursue the programme without interrupting their professional activities. With a focus on interactive learning, the CE programmes provide a congenial environment that integrates theory with practice, he added.

  • Chandigarh, March 1- Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Dr. Inder Jeet said that the Election Commission of India has directed that all electors in all constituencies who have been issued EPIC have to produce the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes.
  • He said that those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall produce alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity which includes Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central, State Govt, PSUs or Public Limited Companies, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank or Post Office, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Pension document with photograph, Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Adhaar Card.
  • He said that in the case of EPIC, minor discrepancies in the entries therein should be ignored, provided that the identity of the elector can be established by the EPIC. If an elector produces an EPIC which has been issued by the Electoral Registration Officer of another Assembly Constituency such card would also be accepted for identification provided the name of that elector finds place in the electoral roll pertaining to the polling station where the elector has turned up for voting. He said that if it is not possible to establish the identity of the elector on account of mismatch of photograph, the elector would have to produce one of the alternative photo documents.
  • He said that Photo Voter Slip will not be accepted for the purpose of identification in polling station. Voters are required to carry EPIC or one of the 11 alternative documents specified by the Election Commission of India for voting.

  • Chandigarh, March 1 – Continuing with the crackdown on drug-peddlers, Haryana Police has arrested two persons on the charges of drug peddling from district Sirsa and recovered 2 kg 580 gram opium worth Rs five lakh from their possession.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that both the accused were arrested by the sleuths of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Sirsa during a raid following a tip-off from bus stop of village Bhangu in the district.
  • The arrested accused were identified as Ramkumar, a resident of village Bhangu and Joginder Mehta of Sirsa. He said after receiving specific information about the suspects, the police team acted swiftly and nabbed the duo along with the contraband.
  • Divulging the details, he said that CIA team during patrolling has got specific inputs concerned with the smuggling of narcotics. On getting information, the team immediately swung into action and arrested two suspicious persons roaming near bus stop of village Bhangu. When searched, one kg 680 gram opium was recovered from Ramkumar, the other accused arrested on the charges of possessing 900 gram opium.
  • During interrogation, it was revealed that the seized contraband was to be supplied in Sirsa, Badagudha and Punjab areas. A case was registered against them under provisions of the NDPS Act.
  • He said that Police is taking stern action against those involved in smuggling of narcotics under a special drive. Earlier also, two Jharkhand residents were nabbed by CIA Sirsa on February 20 and 3 kilogram opium was recovered from them.
  • Chandigarh, March 1: Haryana Government has constituted a State Level Task Force under Swachh Bharat Mission to implement the mission successfully and make it a people's movement.
  • While giving details an official spokesman said that MLA, Panipat (Rural), Mr Mahipal Dhanda has been appointed as its Chairman while Executive Vice Chairman, Swachh Bharat Mission, Mr Subhash Chander has been appointed as its Vice Chairman.
  • He further stated that the State Task Force Committee of Swachh Bharat Mission would implement Swachh Bharat Mission and would make this mission a peoples movement by involving NGOs, Resident Welfare Associations, Social Organisations, Religious Organisations or any other social groups and co-ordinate with various existing organizations to achieve the aims and objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission. The Task Force would prepare its own list of activities along with the funds requirements for the whole year and after approval from the Governing Body would implement these activities. The Task Force would have its own Secretariat.
  • Director, Development & Panchayat would be its Member Secretary and Director, Urban Local Bodies would be its Co-Member Secretary. The members of the Task Force include Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board, Chandigarh (Expert); Chief Engineer, PR, Development and Panchayats Deptt.; Chief Engineer, Urban Local Bodies Deptt.; Mr Tejinder Singh Teji of Village Samora of District Karnal, Mr Mukesh Kumar of District Panipat, Mr Surender Pawar of Sonipat, Mr Pawan Sharma of District Karnal, Dr. R.K. Jangra of District Narnaul, Mr Ved Pal of District Nuh, Mr Narender Pachaar of Rohtak, Mr Ved Parkash of Jind, Mr Joginder Singh of Kurukshetra and Rajesh Kumar of Kaithal. Besides this, two academicians or professional would be nominated separately as members of the Task Force.
  • District level Task Force Committees would be formed under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioners which would consist of both official as well as non-official members.
