Chandigarh June 21: On the occasion of 6th 'International Yoga Day' today, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, performed Yoga at his home here and greeted the people of Haryana on this occasion. He practiced Yoga for an hour in the morning and performed various Yoga Asanas. This year, amid COVID-19 the theme of International Yoga Day is "Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family".
Later, speaking on this occasion, Mr Manohar Lal said that the State Government had been organizing International Yoga Day at a grand scale every year since 2015 under which district level programmes were also organized apart from the state level programme wherein scores of people collectively performed yoga and also inspired others to adopt Yoga in their life. But this year, due to COVID-19, instead of organizing programmes and events people have been urged to practice Yoga at their homes as this is the only effective way through which we could defeat this pandemic.
While underlining the significance of Yoga, Mr Manohar Lal said that International Day of Yoga gives a message of universal brotherhood. Yoga gives mental peace, bring positivity in our life and helps in building immunity, said the Chief Minister while exhorting the people to make yoga a part of their regular life.
