  • Chandigarh, Nov 3 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that  Baba Banda Veer Bairagi had sacrificed his life for greater cause of religion and   society. The acts of his bravery can never be forgotten.
  • The Chief Minister was speaking at Sheri Khanda Shaurya Divas organised at village Khanda Sheri in district Sonipat today.
  • He said that when society was under threat, Baba Banda Veer Bairagi had constituted an army against the Mughals at village Khanda district Sonipat on November 3, 1709. He had fought against injustice.
  • The Chief Minister said that Baba  Banda Veer Bairagi had formed his capital at Lohgarh and now the present State Government is going to establish a big memorial after his name at fort which is covering about 7,000 acres of area. He said that 769 soldiers were martyred of the army formed by Baba Banda Bairagi at village Khanda and one of these soldiers was associated with his family. He said that presently 10 per cent soldiers in Indian army are from Haryana. In order to  give more soldiers from Haryana, Armed Forces Preparatory Institute would be established after the name of  Baba Banda Veer Bairagi at village Khanda at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The village panchayat would donate 50 acres land for this institute and assistance would be sought from different industrial companies under Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and required funds would be made available by the State Government.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced beautification of ‘Nagawali Talab’ in village Khanda at a cost of Rs one crore. He said that not only this, but for the ponds across the state, a Pond Development Authority has been constituted. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of nine projects worth Rs 153 crore. On behalf of people of Sonipat, the Deputy Commissioner, Sonipat, Mr. Vinay Singh presented a cheque of Rs 1,60,14,166 to the Chief Minister for Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, Kerala.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister also unveiled statue of Baba Banda Veer Bairagi at Nagawali Talab and also went around an exhibition organised by Bairagi Samaj. Thereafter, the Chief Minister paid obeisance at Nirmohi Maladhari Akhada Mandir. He also inaugurated blood donation camp.
  • Earlier, he also distributed 250 cycles to girls of the village under the CSR initiative of Avon Cycle Company. Thereafter, he flagged off a Mobile Medical Van presented by Himachal Futuristic Limited under CSR scheme. The Mobile Medical Van would have paramedical staff and it would provide medical facility in nearby villages.
  • The Chief Minister inaugurated two projects and laid foundation stones of seven projects costing about Rs 153.58 crore. These included construction works of Kharkhoda Sub Division Complex to be established at a cost of Rs 15.03 crore, construction work of road from Sonipat-Rathdhana-Narela at a cost of over Rs 10 lakh, construction of Sports Stadium, Kharkhoda at a cost of Rs 92 lakh, construction of side drain and p/f IPB alongwith various places at Kharkhoda at a cost of Rs 1.99 crore, construction of water works, Sisana at a cost of Rs 4.49 crore, construction of nine boosters and pipeline in various villages at a cost of Rs 4.98 crore, construction of Primary Health Centre at Khanda under CSR. After construction, the PHC would be handed over the Health Department.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal also inaugurated extension of crushing capacity of Sonipat Sugar Mill amounting to Rs 15 crore and a Railway Under Bridge near Sonipat Sugar Mill costing Rs 9.36 crore.
  • The Chief Minister also announced Rs 50 crore for development of Kharkhoda Assembly Constituency. Apart from this, he said that the road from Khanda to Jharout would soon be completed. Public library would be established at village Khanda under CSR scheme, he added.
  • Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain, Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover and Member of Parliament, Mr. Ramesh Kaushik also spoke on this occasion.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 3- Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board will organise Khadi Fashion Melas in 2019  to popularise khadi  products and make them easily available to people. 
  • While stating this here today, the Chairperson of Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board, Mrs Gargi Kakkar said that first online Khadi Selling Centre of the state has already been launched and Khadi selling stores would be opened at the district level and also outside the state.
  • Mrs Gargi Kakkar  said that through the Boards’ initiative of online Khadi selling centres, Khadi would reach the common people. She said that spinning cotton on Charkha has taken a bigger form and today wearing Khadi has become fashion.
  • She said that the Government has been  requested  to arrange an adequate budget  to the Board to promote Khadi production. Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board would complete its 50 years in February 2019. So far, no previous governments had ever taken such initiative for the promotion of khadi as taken by the present government under the able leadership of Mr Manohar Lal, she added.
  • She said that as the trend of online selling has taken root throughout the country, in such time Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board has also taken such initiative for the sale of its products. She said that strenuous efforts would be made to establish the identity of Khadi products of Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board in the country as well as abroad.
  • The Chairperson of Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board said that  not only  the first online Khadi selling center has been launched but its brand- Har Khadi and logo has also  been released. She said that such stores would also be opened in other districts on a priority basis and would be linked with self-help groups. Besides this, products of Khadi and Village Industries would be made available in Tourism Corporation and other selling centers.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 3 – Haryana Government has issued transfer and posting orders of one IAS and one HCS officers with immediate effect.
  • Rani Nagar, IAS, Additional Secretary, Animal Husbandry Department has been posted as Additional Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, against a vacant post.
  • Kulwant Kumar Kalson, HCS, Officer on Special Duty to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister has been posted as Special Secretary, Animal Husbandry Department vice Rani Nagar.
  • Chandigarh, Nov 3– Haryana Governor, Mr. Satyadeo Narain Arya said that the State Government has promoted traditional sports alongwith modern sports and as a result of this, Haryana has emerged on the world map in the field of sports.
  • The Governor was speaking at the 44th annual function of Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai in district Sonipat today. On this occasion, he honoured the winning students of various competitions.
  • He said that conducive environment has been made available in the state for education as well as sports as a result of which youth have adopted sports as a career option. He said that in the recent Asian Games held at Jakarta, out of the total medals won by the sportspersons from India, 25 per cent have been won by the sportspersons of Haryana.
  • Mr. Arya said that participation in sports activities lead to overall development of a person. Therefore, sports are  important for youth. He urged the students to respect their parents, motherland and mother tongue only then they would be able to face all challenges in their lives.
  • Appreciating the teachers and staff of the Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai for development of education and sports, the Governor said that the school has given a number of renowned sportspersons, educationists and senior officers in various departments which has brought the school among the leading schools of the country.
  • Speaking on the occasion, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that the State Government had prepared the best Sports Policy of the country as a result of which youth have adopted sports as a career. Under the Sports Policy, the sports persons are not only provided with cash prizes, but  jobs are also given to them. The Olympic medallists are being given cash prize of Rs six crore alongwith jobs up to HCS/HPS level with eight years seniority. The sportspersons have been provided with online application facility so they need not have to fill forms for jobs. As many as 118 sportspersons of different level have so far applied for jobs of which cases of 50 sportspersons are under consideration.
  • He said that world class facilities are being made available for sports in the state. Ten sports nurseries each for both girls and boys are being established in every district. He said that 437 yoga vyayamshalas have so far been established. Also, multipurpose indoor halls costing Rs 30 crore each are being established in each district, he added.
  • Mr. Vij appreciated the Motilal Nehru School of Sports and said that the School has been leading in the development of sports. The school has become a big centre of sports and it has all world class facilities. The State Government has been establishing world class shooting range in the School at a cost of Rs seven crore.
  • Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mr. Ashok Khemka also spoke on this occasion.
