  • Chandigarh, Jan 6: Haryana Higher Education department has issued a schedule of various state-level Inter Collegiate sports championships or tournaments to be organised from January 15 to March 9, 2019.
  • While giving details an official spokesman of the department said that Inter Collegiate Football (Men and Women) championship or tournament would be organised at Jat College, Hisar from January 15 to January 18, 2019, Cricket (Men) championship or tournament at DAV College, Ambala City from February 4 to February 9, 2019, Volleyball (Men and Women) championship or tournament at I.G. National College Ladwa (Radaur) from February 13 to February 16, 2019, Kabaddi (Men and Women) championship or tournament at M.M. College Fatehabad from February 25 to February 28, 2019, and Baseball (Men and Women) championship or tournament at Government College Kalka (Panchkula) from March 6 to March 9, 2019, respectively.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6- Haryana’s six districts namely Bhiwani, Faridabad, Karnal, Mewat, Panchkula and Panipat are among the top 42 districts which have been declared winners of World Toilet Day Contest.
  • While giving this information, an official spokesman said that the World Toilet Day Contest was held from November 9 to 19, 2018 across the country by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS), Government of India. As many as 412 districts from 25 states and union territories had participated in the contest.
  • The contest was held to re-intensify the Swachh Bharat jan andolan at the grassroots, this competition was led by District Collectors or Magistrates and CEO (Zila Parishads).
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6 – Haryana Police has decided to launch a month-long 'Operation Shriman' to ensure treating the public with courtesy and respect across the state. Under this, police personnel will observe due courtesy during their all-out dealings with citizens.
  • A spokesman of Police Department said that in this regard, the Director General of Police (DGP), Mr B.S. Sandhu has issued instructions to Range ADGPs/ IGs, CPs and district SPs.
  • It may be recalled that Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal recently in a function had exhorted the police officers to further improve their behavior while dealing with public particularly the poor.
  • He said that although, the majority of police personnel are decent and polite to the public, yet they would have to remain polite and respectful and avoid behaving in a rude manner with public while being at naka duty, patrolling duty, checking duty, PCR duty, in police stations, police posts and other units. The ‘Operation Shriman’ will continue till January 31, 2019.
  • He said that Mr Sandhu has also instructed the officers to impart training for the same to policemen at Police training institutions as well as range and district levels. Besides this, services of soft skill experts and other specialists will be hired for this purpose. Soft skill training on behaviour with public will also be a part of ongoing training programs of police.
  • Those policemen who adjudged best will also be rewarded at State, Range and district level.
  • He said that the officers have also been instructed to maintain close coordination with civil authorities like NHAI, PWD etc. to bring down road accidents during current foggy conditions. Traffic incharges should ensure that travelers must follow traffic and road safety laws in their respective areas to save valuable lives. Apart from this, the officers were instructed to ensure lane driving on KGP and KMP expressways.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6 – Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani today on the second consecutive day, successfully and smoothly conducted Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) examination across the state. About 2,73,064 candidates appeared in the exam in Level- 2 and Level-1 from all over the state.
  • While giving this information, Chairman of Board, Dr Jagbir Singh and Secretary, Board, Capt Manoj Kumar said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr Manohal Lal and Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, the HTET examination was conducted successfully. The exam was conducted in three levels.
  • On the first day on January 5, about 93,000 candidates had appeared in the Level -3 of HTET in  338 examination centers.  Today, 1,42,610 candidates appeared in the morning session of Level 2 (TGT) of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) exam in 464 examination centres across the State. In the evening session, about 1,30,454 candidates appeared in level 1 (PRT) of HTET exam in 422 examination centres.
  • A Hi-tech Control Room was set up at Board’s headquarter to closely monitoring the conduct of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test (HTET) examination across the state through CCTV cameras installed at examination centres. The Chairman of Board, Dr Jagbir Singh and Secretary, Board, Capt Manoj Kumar monitored the conduct of exam. The board had sidelined all possibilities of leaking of paper and copying. There were four codes of question papers leaving no scope of copying. The examination was monitored at three levels and jammers were installed in the examination centers. Sixteen cameras were installed at each centre of which 13 were at examination rooms, two at entrance and one in the room of Central Superintendent.
  • Before entering the centres, the candidates were admitted thorough biometric attendance and were checked for possession of any unfair means with them
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6 – The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 8.62 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 98.32 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced a maximum of over 1.69 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 18.37 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced over 1.37 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 16.30 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal has produced over 1.01 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 11.18 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, which has produced 94,730 quintals of sugar by crushing 10.49 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Similarly, the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 82,400 quintals of sugar by crushing 10.47 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced 65,480 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.05 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Panipat has produced 59,025 quintals of sugar by crushing 6.43 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Gohana has produced  59,020 quintals of sugar by crushing 7.21 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Sonipat has produced 16,200 quintals of sugar by crushing 2.33 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced 99,100 quintals of sugar by crushing 11.92 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 9.28 per cent.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that Film Policy has been formulated and released  to encourage the Haryanvi culture. Those who would make films based on Haryanvi language and culture and artists from Haryana come forward in this direction, they would be encouraged. 
  • The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at the launch of poster and trailer of movie S.P. Chauhan- A struggling man in Karnal, late evening yesterday.
  • The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp and also honoured social workers and celebrities and artists associated with the film on behalf of Nav Chetna Manch. 
  • He said that the habit of drug addiction has increased among the youth of the seven states of northern India. A joint policy has been formed to combat with this evil.  Under the policy, awareness would be generated among the youth and public awareness drive would be launched. The police headquarters Panchkula has been made head office of this .  The general public should also cooperate and make efforts in ending this evil. 
  • The Chief Minister said that the Film based on the life story of S.P. Chauhan would no doubt give a new direction to the society and would prove beneficial in keeping the youth away from drugs. The Film has shown the struggle, service, patriotism and also about prevention of social evils. 
  • The Programme Organizer, Mr  S.P. Chauhan welcomed all the guests and said that the aim of this film is to curb the spread of drug abuse, discrimination of casteism in the society with special emphasis on respect for daughters. He said that this is the first time in Haryana, where the trailer of the movie is being launched. He also expressed gratitude to artists of the film, especially Sonu Nigam, Miss Pooja and Yashpal Sharma.
  • Haryanvi film artist, Yashpal Sharma said that the film would turn out to be an inspirational one and thanked the Chief Minister for the formulation of Film Policy. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also honoured the author and Senior Journalist, Mr Sandip Sahil of the book entitled ‘Sangharsh ko Salaam’ based on the life of S.P. Chauhan.
  • Chandigarh, Jan 6 – Haryana Government has posted Vandana Disodia (HCS), Additional Director (Administration and Mid Day Meals), Elementary Education and Joint Secretary, School Education Department as Additional Chief Electoral Officer, with immediate effect.
