- Chandigarh, June 10 –The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has held out the assurance that amendment in the Dohlidar (Land) Act would be considered, and the possibility of inclusion of Bhondedar in this Act would be examined.
- Speaking at the Shrdhanjali Divas organised to observe the 302nd martyrdom day of Vir Banda Bairagi in Panipat today, he said other demands of the Bairagi Samaj would also be sympathetically considered.
- The Chief Minister said efforts were being made to further improve the level of education and generate more employment opportunities. The state government has opened Antyodaya Bhavans in seven districts and these shall also be opened in the remaining 15 districts.
- The state government also plans to open these Bhavans at the sub-division and block level to enable people to get information on all schemes at one place, and apply for any scheme on the spot without having to visit any government office.
- The Chief Minister said martyrs and great personalities did not belong to any particular caste or community. Vir Banda Bairagi was one such brave warrior who sacrificed his life for the society and the country. The 749 soldiers who sacrificed their lives along with him included one of his ancestors.
- Mr. Manohar Lal said for the first time, government jobs were being given on merit basis, and without any discrimination. More than 200 youth belonging to Bairagi Samaj have got government jobs on merit basis.
- Referring to the demands made by the Bairagi Samaj, the Chief Minister announced that the ITI in village Barana of Panipat district and the community centre in Sonipat would be named after Vir Banda Bairagi, and a big entrance gate each would be constructed on the Shahabad-Barara and Kapalmochan-Lohgarh roads.
- He also announced Rs 21 lakh and 11 lakh for the construction of dharamshalas of Bairagi Samaj at Jind and Bhiwani, respectively. He also announced relaxation in rules for upgrading the high school at Rohtak up to Class ten plus two. A pucca road of 500 metres up to the school would also be opened.
- Speaking on the occasion, the Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar, said the present state government celebrates jayantis of all great personalities, including Ravidas, Kabirdas and Valmiki, at government level. Apart from this, a board has been constituted for the first time for the uplift of Nomadic tribes, he added.
