  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Decks have been cleared for new sugar mills in Dahar village, Panipat. Tender of the sugar mill to be established at a cost of about Rs 300 crore has been approved in the meeting of High Power Purchase Committee today. 
  • A meeting of the Committee held in the presence of Chairman of the Committee and Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain and Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover, here today.
  • Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover said that in the new sugar mill, electricity will be produced along with high quality sugar.
  • He said that the State Government has fulfilled a long pending demand of farmers. He said that work on the sugar mill will start soon. The new sugar mill will be built over 73 acres at a cost of Rs 300 crore and it will directly benefit thousands of farmers. Apart from this, the income of the farmers will also increase which will realise Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s dream. The capacities of other sugar mills in the state will also be increased, he added.
  • The committee has deliberated discussions by inviting tender to shift old sugar mill in Panipat city to Dahar village. The members of Committee took decision that the new sugar mill will be established in 11 months. The crushing capacity of the old sugar mill was 1,800 TCD, which has been increased to 5,000 TCD. In future, its capacity will be increased to 7,500 TCD. 
  • He said that 45 KLDP ethanol plant will be installed in Sugar Mill. Also, a 28 MW power generation plant will be established. Out of this, about 18 MW power will be sold to the State Government and remaining electricity will be used within the mill. Modern machines will be installed in Sugar Mill, which will produce the best quality of sugar.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that the government has already fulfilled all the demands of the employees working under the National Health Mission. Therefore, the Government will take strict against the employees who have gone on strike in an unfair manner.
  • The Health Minister said that during the last four years, the present State Government has fulfilled the demands of NHM union to pay an average salary of Rs 15,000 monthly to 11272 contractual employees. Under this, Service Rules have been framed for these employees, which have come into effect from January 1, 2018. This has caused almost twice the additional burden on the state exchequer,
  • Mr. Vij said that earlier, the expenditure which was Rs 60 crore, has now increased up to Rs 110 crore in 2018-19 and is expected to increase up to Rs 120 crore in 2019-20. In the year 2018-19, about Rs 283 crore have been spent on the salary and allowances of NHM employees. Not only this, these employees are also being given Dearness Allowance and House Rent like regular employees.
  • The Health Minister said that despite of all this, appropriate action will be taken against those employees who are on strike. Under this, services of 2500 employees have so far been ended and in future, if required, then action is possible against other employees. He said that NHM is the Central Government's project under which employees working cannot be regularized.
  • Mr. Vij said that even though these employees are aware of this fact yet they are raising unnecessary demand. He said that such employees should not come under anybody's influence and should resume their duties at the earliest.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Mr. Raghunath Kashyap, the new  Chairman of Harcofed assumed charge of office at Panchkula today in the presence of Minister of State for Co-operation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover. 
  • Congratulating Mr. Kashyap for the new responsibility, Mr. Grover said that the present State Government has Cooperation Department has gained significant importance whereas the previous governments have never given importance to this Department. He said that it would be beneficial for the farmers to start branding of their products and sell them. This will further strengthen their financial position, he added. 
  • The outgoing Chairman of Harcofed, Mr. Rameshwar Chauhan was also present on this occasion.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18--The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has saluted the bravery of the officer and three soldiers of 55-Rashtriya Rifles, who attained martyrdom while taking on the terrorists during a cordon and search operation at Pulwama in Srinagar, today. 
  • In a condolence message issued here, the Chief Minister paid condolences to the bereaved families and said the entire country salutes the spirit with which the soldiers are fighting the terrorists.
  • Expressing condolences on the martyrdom of Sepoy Hari Singh of village Rajgarh in district Rewari, Mr Manohar Lal said soldiers from Haryana have always made supreme sacrifices for the country. The cremation of martyr Hari Singh will be held at his native village Rajgarh on February 19.
  • Martyr Hari Singh was born on August 15, 1993 and was recruited in 55-Rashtriya Rifles in 2011. His father Agadi Singh also served in the Army. The other members of the family of Hari Singh include mother Pista Devi, wife Radha Bai, and one-year-old boy Lakshya. Hari Singh had three sisters.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the teachings of great people like Guru Ravidas are still relevant today. “We should learn from the life and teachings of such great personalities and give a message of social harmony in the society”, he added.
  • In a message issued here today on the eve of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, the Chief Minister said that the great personalities like Guru Ravidas had given the message of social harmony in the society through their teachings  even when conservative thinking and ignorance was prevalent  in the society. In the era of Information Technology in 21st Century, it is our duty to inform the young generation about the teachings of such great personalities, he added.
  • For the first time, the present State Government has given the message of social harmony in the society by organising the birth anniversaries of great personalities like Guru Ravidas, Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Kabir Das at government level and giving the message to the young generation of the relevance of their teachings in today’ time.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Haryana Urdu Akademi has invited applications from Haryana's Urdu litterateurs for prizes to their best-published books and grant for publication of manuscripts up to 2018. The last date for sending the applications is March 15, 2019.
  • While giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Akademi said that under the scheme, the Akademi will include only those books which have been published between the years 2013 to 2018. He said that the amount of awards for selected books will be Rs 11,000 and for the publication of the manuscript, 75 percent of the total expenditure or maximum Rs 15,000 (whichever is less) will be given by the Akademi. He said that the last date for sending the application is March 15, 2019 and the copy of the application form can be obtained from the Akademi’s office.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections, 2019, Toll Free Voters Helpline Number 1950 has been established in each District Election Office across Haryana and any person may check his or her name in the voting list through SMS also.  
  • While giving details, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana,  Dr. Inder Jeet said that for the convenience of the common people in view of upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections, 2019, the Department of Telecom, Government of India, has issued a Toll Free Voters Helpline number ‘1950’, so as to receive the information related to elections, by sending SMS on this Number.  
  • He said that, the voters may also receive the information related to elections, by dialing 1950 or the voters from outside the district, by dialing 1950 with the STD code of the respective district to get the information.
  • He said that besides providing information of voters name in the voting list, toll free number 1950 would also provide information about Polling Station and the contact details of the related Booth Level Officer (BLO).
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18 – Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that the prize money of the sportspersons of the state will soon be deposited in their bank accounts, which is expected to be credited in their bank accounts on February 20, 2019. The Minister said that during his tenure, no sportsperson would have to wait for the prize money.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 18: The cooperative sugar mills in Haryana have so far produced over 19.16 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 203.22 lakh quintals of sugarcane during the current crushing season.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills said that the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahabad has produced a maximum of over 3.73 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 38.03 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Cooperative Sugar Mill, Rohtak has produced over 2.74 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 30.51 lakh quintals of sugarcane, followed by Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal which has produced over 2.20 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 22.99 lakh quintals of sugarcane and Cooperative Sugar Mill, Karnal, has produced over 1.85 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 19.44 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Similarly, the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Meham has produced 1.79 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 20.50 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Gohana has produced  over 1.69 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 18.27 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Jind has produced  over 1.54 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 15.95 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill, Palwal has produced over 1.37 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 14.18 lakh quintals of sugarcane, Cooperative Sugar Mill,  Panipat has produced 1.32 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 13.59 lakh quintals of sugarcane, and Cooperative Sugar Mill Sonipat has produced 89,300 quintals of sugar by crushing 9.76 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • Apart from this, HAFED Sugar Mill, Assandh has produced over 2.07 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 22.75 lakh quintals of sugarcane.
  • He said that so far, the average rate of sugar recovery by the cooperative sugar mills has been registered as 9.68 per cent.
