- Chandigarh, Sept 18 – Haryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that ‘Sewa Divas Saptah’ is being observed from September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to September 25, the birthday of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya. In this direction, the Finance Department has taken unique step to organise Pension Adalats together in all districts to redress the cases pertaining to pensioners. The Pension Adalats would be held once in three months in the state.
- The Finance Minister was speaking after inaugurating 22 Pension Adalats which was held at Haryana Niwas, here today. Pension Adalats were held simultaneously through video conferencing in all the districts of the state also.
- He expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for launching such a unique and large scheme in the entire country. He said that there are about 2.72 lakh pensioners in the state who are getting pension amounting to about Rs 8301.28 crore annually. Moreover, he emphasized that pension papers of retiring Government employees should be initiated well in time and pensioners benefits should be released on time so that pensioners or their families should not face any difficulty in receiving pension, he added.
- On this occasion, the pending cases of pensions in districts were taken up with Deputy Commissioners concerned, through video conferencing. The Finance Minister also distributed payment orders to some pensioners and directed the officers to timely complete all documents of an employee before his retirement. During these Pension Adalats, pending or withheld gratuities of about 722 pensioners were distributed in the state.
- The Principal Secretary, Finance, Mr. T.V.S.N. Prasad informed that quarterly pensions adalats will be organised on every third Tuesday. He further directed all Treasury Officers to collect the grievances of Pensioners visiting Treasury during the quarter and to reply the status in next pension adalats.
- Others present on the occasion included, Principal Accountant General, Mr Vishal Bansal, Director General, Treasuries and Accounts, Mr Sunil Saran, Joint Secretary, Finance, Mr Vivek Padam Singh and other senior officers.
