  • Chandigarh, February 19—The Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, has asked the youth to stay away from drug addiction which  not only adversely affects both mind and body, but also unintentionally helps anti-national  forces. 
  • The Prime Minister was speaking at the launch of Drug Free India campaign organized by the Art of Living at Guru Jambeshwar University through tele-conferencing in Hisar, today. The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, was the chief guest, while the spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar presided over the programme.
  • Besides many personalities from the film industry, more than 20,000 youths participated in the programme. The university also conferred Honoris Causa Degree of Doctor of Science on Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
  • The Prime Minister said those who took drugs were unintentionally supporting the anti-social elements. Drug traders harm the youth power and weaken the economic strength of the country. The Government of India has formed a National Action Plan to prevent cross-border drug trade and break the backbone of drugs business. It was implemented in 2018. 
  • A detailed action plan for 2025 has been prepared against drug addiction which includes an awareness generation campaign among the people, its prevention, and special campaigns for sensitive sections of the society.
  • The Prime Minister appealed to the people to adopt  sensitive attitude towards the victims of drugs by not looking at them as criminals and show these misguided youths the right path by connecting them to the mainstream society. The society is capable of showing the right path to such misguided people.
  • Like other social evils we would get this evil of drugs addiction eliminated from society. The use of technology can play an important role in this campaign. Social organizations and community welfare organizations are playing a very important role in this direction, he added.
  • While appreciating the efforts of Founder of the Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the Prime Minister said the efforts he had made in this direction were receiving support from all sections of the society. 
  • The Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said strict compliance of the law had been ensured to break into the drug trade and the smuggling network in Haryana.  The state government created a Special Task Force in January 2018 through which many drug dealers have been caught and large quantities of drugs have been seized.
  • As many as 61 drug de-addiction centres have been opened in the state through the Health Department where 25,000 youths were freed from the addiction to drugs last year. Drug addiction is a disease which makes a person suffer from physical, mental and financial problems, he said.
  • Many NGOs and Self-Help Organizations in the state are also engaged in this work and their contribution is commendable. Besides, the efforts of government and organizations, youths themselves would have to wake up. Without their efforts, we cannot get rid of this disease, the Chief Minster added.
  • He appreciated Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for launching the campaign. He asked youth to raise slogan ‘Yuva Jagega to Nasha Bhagega’ and ‘Druga na Karunga, na Karne Dunga’.
  • Sri Sri Ravi Shankar appreciated the efforts made by the state government to take youth out of the influence of drugs and expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister. ‘Nasha Mukti March’ will be organised in every city of the country on March 10 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m, he said.
  • The Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, and Bollywood actor, Mr. Varun Sharma, also spoke on this occasion.
  • Others present on the occasion included Chairman, Haryana Bureau of Public Enterprises, Dr. Kamal Gupta, Chairman CONFED, Capt. Bhupinder, ADGP, Mr. O.P. Singh, Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. B.K. Kuthiala and other dignitaries.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 19--The three-day 4th Agri Leadership Summit organized from February 15 to 17, 2019 at the India International Horticulture Market at Ganaur in Sonipat District, has sent out the signal that agricultural has entered a new era in Haryana.
  • More than 1.6 lakh farmers took part in the Summit where discussion were held on modernization of agriculture at the seminars held on 16 different subjects over two days.  
  • Summing up the outcome of the Summit, the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Mr O P Dhankar, said today that discussions on how to make farming a profitable venture and how to increase the income of farmers in a scientific manner were quite educative and absorbing.
  • Stress was laid on incorporation of new technology in agriculture.  Politicians, agricultural scientists, farmers, journalists and social thinkers shared their opinions at more than 16 seminars for making farming profitable. Besides, steps on how to distress the stressed farming sector were also discussed, he added.
  • The annual event devoted to the betterment of farming and welfare of farmers, turned into a platform for working out remunerative price for farmers’ produce. The widely attended exhibitionshowcased some of remarkable works done by the farmers of the state and gave out information about the steps taken by the state government to make agriculture profitable.
  • From inauguration to conclusion, the President, Mr Ram Nath Kovind, the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr Op Dhankar, other ministers and experts underscored ‘Haryana Ka Swabhiman, Anndata Kisan’. Slogan of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Vigyan, Jai Kisan’ was raised by everyone.
  • Mr Dhankar said multiple dimensions emerged from the Summit at the sessions attended by scientists, technical experts, media specialists, progressive farmers and agro industries sector. The scientists-farmers dialogue enabled the scientists from all over the country to not only answer the curiosity of farmers, but also showed the way to introducing new know-how and practical research work in farming to make it a profitable venture.
  • Representatives from agro-industry made the point how agro-based industries can help the farmer earn more. Mr Dhankar lauded the Crop Insurance Scheme, asked the farmers to take to organic farming, and asked the media to propagate scientific technology and highlight the problems faced by the farming community.
  • Chandigarh, February 19- Haryana Governor, Mr Satyadeo Narain Arya described Shri Guru Ravi Das Ji as a great saint, philosopher and social reformer, who believed in equality across the world.
  • The Governor said that Shri Guru Ravi Das Ji i does not belong to any caste or community but belongs to the entire humanity. His teachings are extensively spread around the world and are relevant even today.  We have to imbibe his teachings in our lives and   to contribute in the progress of the country.

  • Chandigarh, February 19- Haryana Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij said that the Proton facility would be available in the National Cancer Institute in Badhsa, Jhajjar, for the advanced treatment of cancer. In Northern India, this would be first of its kind facility for the treatment of cancer.
  • Mr Vij said that the institute would provide the advance medical treatment facilities for all stages of Cancer. This would benefit the patients of Haryana, Rajasthan along with Delhi and other states and would also reduce the pressure of patients visiting AIIMS, Delhi.
  • He said that the Cancer Institute has been constructed on about 300 acres at the cost of about Rs 2,035 crore. Out of the total area, 200 acres is an institutional area while the residential area has been developed on 100 acres. The institute has been constructed in just 36 months. Its bhoomi poojan was performed in December 2015 and this year, the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi inaugurated this National Cancer Institute on February 12, 2019. The institute has the facility of 710 beds for patients. It also has special facilities for the attendants of patients and doctors.
  • He said that on a trial basis, Outpatient service had been started from December 18, 2018 and Inpatient services have been started from January 2019, in the institute.
  • Chandigarh, February 19- Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department has extended the last date for submission of applications by medal winners of national or international level in Senior, Junior and Sub-Junior categories on the basis of their sports achievements for the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 and in Junior and Sub-Junior categories for the year 2016-17, for receiving the cash prize. The last date has been extended to February 22 from February 12, 2019, earlier.
  • Giving this information, a spokesman of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department said that the medal winners of national or international sports events could submit their applications in the office of their respective District Sports and Youth Affairs Programme Officer by February 22, 2019. Along with their application, the sports persons would also submit certificates of sports, birth certificate,  Haryana domicile/resident Certificate, bank account with IFSC code, affidavit related to doping test and other required verified documents.
  • He said that those players in Junior and Sub-Junior categories who have already applied in the year 2016-17 on the basis of their sports achievements, need not apply again. For this, applicants can be filled on haryanasports.gov.in.
