- Chandigarh, June 2- The girl students of government schools will start getting sanitary napkins In Haryana by August this year at a service charge of Rs one per packet. The same will also be provided to women belonging to Below Poverty Line families by that time at same charges.
- A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal with senior functionaries of School Education Department and Health Department, here today.
- The Chief Minister said that girls till the age of 18 years would be provided with sanitary napkins in schools, while women over 18 years of age would be provided through Public Distribution System at ration shops every month. A service charge of Re one per packet would be charged on sanitary napkins.
- A survey conducted in this regard has revealed that only 28 per cent of girls use sanitary napkins and 40 per cent of women use cloth, which lead to hygiene issues and many diseases. This move of the state government would provide big relief to school girls and women in maintaining hygiene.
- Chandigarh, June 2 - Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki today administered the oath of office to Mr. Justice Krishan Murari as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court in a simple and impressive ceremony held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today.
- Besides the family members of Mr. Justice Krishan Murari and the Judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the function was attended by Punjab Governor, Mr V.P. Singh Badnore, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, Haryana Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Urban Local Bodies Minister Mrs Kavita Jain, Public Health Engineering Minister, Mr Banwari Lal, Chief Secretary Haryana, Mr D.S. Dhesi and other senior officers of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.
- Mr. Justice Krishan Murari was born on July 9, 1958. He has a long and distinguished career in the legal field.
- Hailing from a family of lawyers, he has also been general secretary and president of the high court bar association and specialised in company matters and consolidation cases.
- Mr. Justice Krishan Murari elevated as an Additional Judge on January 7, 2004, and took oath as a Permanent Judge on August 18, 2005.
