  • Chandigarh, Sept 20 – Under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, the Haryana Government is committed to fulfil its share of generating 4,030 MW power of the total target of one lakh Mega Watt (MW) through solar power plants by 2022 as set by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi. In this direction, approval has given for installation of 24 MW Grid Connected Rooftop solar power plants on rooftops of all government buildings at a cost of Rs 137 crore.
  • This was informed in a meeting of New and Renewable Energy and Finance Departments held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, here today.
  • It was informed in the meeting that 50,000 solar water pump sets would be installed under ‘Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan’ (KUSUM). There is a proposal to install 20,000 such pump sets under first phase in 2018-19 and 30,000 under second phase in 2019-20. Under first phase, a sum of over Rs 709 crore would be estimated expenditure including 75 per cent share of the state amounting to Rs 531.97 crore whereas the remaining 25 per cent share would be borne by the consumer.
  • It was also informed that there was a proposal to take loan of Rs 505.37 crore from Rural Infrastructure Development Fund under NABARD for which Detailed Project Report has been sent. It was also informed that in order to reduce the burden on discoms, the extra power generated by solar power plants would be connected with grids for which PPP mode would be adopted.
  • Others present in the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, Mr. P.K. Mahapatra, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Mr. T.V.S.N. Prasad, Finance Secretary, Mrs. Ranju Parsad, Finance Secretary-cum-Advisor, Mr. Sunil Saran, Director, New and Renewable Energy Department, Mrs. Renu S. Phulia and other senior officers.
