  • Chandigarh, October 21—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that fish farming units would be set up to find a permanent solution to the problem of water-logging in the affected districts of the state.  
  • Those farmers who suffered loss of crops due to water-logging would be compensated after weighing the losses and the sowing of wheat would be started by draining out the excess water, he said while addressing a public rally in Jind today. The capacity of the water extraction pump sets installed on the Shamlas and Karaela drains would be enhanced for this purpose.
  • Mr Manohar Lal said an Expressway would be constructed from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir. With this ambitious project, one would be able to visit the Vaishno Devi Shrine in half the time. This expressway would pass through Jind district and open many doors of development for the district. Thousands of people would get employment, he added.
  • The Chief Minister said in the next 15 days, details of all the development works carried out by the state government in the last four years would be made public. For this, public meetings would be organized in all districts of the state, and first such meeting has been held in Jind today, he added.
  • Those present included the Union Minister for Steel, Ch Birender Singh, Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu, and others.
  • Chandigarh, October 21--The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has said that since almost all types of farming is  done in Jind district, the possibility of setting up a textile unit  and organic food park would be explored. With the setting up of industries, Jind district would rank among the leading districts of Haryana providing employment and self-employment resources to thousands of people.    
  • Addressing a public rally organized in Jind today, the Chief Minister also conceded the long pending demand of the people of Jind city by announcing the decision to provide canal-based drinking water and Rs 300 crore for various development projects.
  • Jind district would not lag behind in development. Work on the announcements made in the past for development of the district has been completed. Some projects are under progress and would be completed in the next one year. 
  • Regarding Jind bypass, Mr Manohar Lal said work on the project would be completed in the next two months. The previous governments did consider a proposal to construct Jind bypass but did not have the courage to get the work started. But the present government has not only got the work completed on the bypass but also completed several other development projects.
  • The Chief Minister said since the present government came to power, corruption had come down significantly and the remaining would alos be rooted out in the near future.  “We have kept our promises, be it regarding taking water up to the tail-ends of canals or reducing the prices of electricity. This has made  people have faith in the government,” he added 
  • Without naming any opposition party, the Chief Minister said during the regime of previous governments, government jobs were given and government works were allocated through brokers or mediators. But, the present government has ended corruption by bringing all government schemes online. Now, no broker or recommendation works. What’s more, there is no fear in the atmosphere and people now breathe easy.
  • The state government has initiated several important schemes for farmers including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana, which have made farming risk-free. We have given compensation to the farmers for the damages caused to their crops in less time as compared to the time taken by the previous governments. In the last 48 years, Rs 750 crore was distributed to farmers as compensation out of which the present government has distributed Rs 3,200 crore during the last four years, he added.
  •  The Chief Minister said the present government had ensured that farmers got profit of 50 per cent on their cost of producing Rabi and Kharif crops. If the cost increases, farmers would get one-and-a-half times the cost as price. Therefore, now they need not worry about any hike in the cost of production. 
  • Mr Manohar Lal directed the officers to ensure that women who had registered their names and addresses be provided with gas cylinder within 48 hours.  
  • The Union Minister for Steel, Ch Birender Singh, said in the last four years, lot of development work had been done in Jind district. Only the Present Government has given attention to Jind for development.
  • The Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, said the development done by the present government in the last four years equalled the development done in Haryana during by various governments in the last 40 years. More works would be executed in Jind district. The construction work on Jind-Rohtak road, which was closed for many years, would also start in a month, he added.
  • Chandigarh, October 21-The Haryana Agriculture and Farmers´ Welfare Minister, Mr O. P. Dhankar, has said that the present government is leaving no stone unturned to give honour and respect to the martyrs and their dependents in the state.
  • The state government has increased the ex-gratia given to the dependents of martyrs from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, 225 dependents of martyrs have been given jobs, Gram Gaurav Pats are being put up in villages to inspire people with the tales of bravery of martyrs and memorials are being set up to commemorate their memories.
  • The minister was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the memorial to Prithvi Singh, martyr of the India-China war in 1962 in Gijarodh village of Jhajjar district, today.
  • Referring to a meeting with the Union Defence Minister, Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, regarding setting up a sainik school in Matanhel, he said the Central Government would set up a memorial in the memory of martyrs of Rejangla.
  •  “We can sleep peacefully at night just because our soldiers are guarding the countrys' borders. A martyr never dies, his story of bravery lives on, and continues to inspire the countrymen”, he said.
  • A memorial has been set up after 53 years. This area is land of brave hearts; it has two Victoria Cross recipients blonging to the pre-Independence era, brave heroes of 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars, and the Kargil War. He announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from his voluntary fund and full support for the construction of martyr Prithvi Singh memorial.
  • Chandigarh, October 21—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that besides several other measures taken for the welfare of families of martyrs, the state government has now decided to give jobs to their dependents in Group-B category by making changes in the policy.
  • Under this, the wife of martyr Major Sanjeev Lathar would be given job in Group-B, he said while addressing the people after unveiling the statue of Martyr Major Sanjeev Lathar in the Buda Khera Lathar village of Jind district, today. Martyrs like Sanjeev Lathar are a source of inspiration for the youth, and to keep their memory alive, his statue has been unveiled.
  • The Chief Minister said earlier, only Group C and Group D jobs were given to the dependents of martyrs but after making changes in the policy, Group B jobs have also been included in the bracket meant for the dependents of martyrs. Apart from this, a law college and another educational institution would be opened over 25 acres in village Buddha Khera in the memory of martyr Major Sanjeev Lathar.
  • Haryana accounts for only two per cent of the total population of the country and occupies 1.3 per cent of the total area but the state contributes 10 per cent to the strength of the Army which is a matter of pride for us all. The Chief Minister also announced the decision to give Rs 1 crore for development works and Rs 1 crore for constructing streets, drains and other development works in the village of Budha Khera Lathar.
  • Taking note of the problem of waterlogging in many villages of the district, the Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that rain water is drained out by October 31. With a view to facilitating sowing of the Rabi crops, the capacity of the Shamlon Kalan pump house for the evacuation of water would be increased to 240 cusecs from 120 cusecs, and that of Kerela Pump house from 70 cusecs to 100 cusecs.
  • Mr Manohar Lal also distributed cash prizes to students securing first and second place under the scholarship scheme initiated in the name of Martyr Major Sanjeev Lathar. Cash prizes were given to the students of class X and Class XII securing first two positions, Rs 10,000 for the first position, and Rs 5,000 for second.
  • The Union Minister of Steel, Ch. Birender Singh, said Major Sanjeev Lathar was killed in a helicopter crash during duty in Siliguri, West Bengal, on November 30, 2016. A park has been developed in the memory of the martyr where his statue has been installed. It is managed by Shaheed Sanjeev Lathar Trust and the father of the martyr, Mr Mahender Singh Lathar, is its president.
