  • Chandigarh, February 23- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that every person should contribute for the development of the country because in the progress of nation lies our  progress. He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and give their signification contribution in the nation building. 
  • The Chief Minister was addressing the youth in the Jind Marathon-2019 organised in Jind today. The Chief Minister after flagging off the 8th Marathon organsied in the state, also participated in the marathon and ran several kilometers along with the youth. He said that this marathon is dedicated to the soldiers who were martyred in Pulwama.
  • The Chief Minister said that the country and the state is moving fast on the path of development. The state government is making all possible efforts for the welfare of the poor and due these efforts the quality of life has improved for Tgecpeople belonging to poor sections of society. There have been positive changes in every area in Haryana, which has instilled enthusiasm and confidence among the people. The present government is living up to the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state. In future also, the government would work in line with the sentiments of the people. 
  • The Chief Minister honoured the winning runners of marathon by giving away cash prize from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. In the 11 km Marathon of males, Ankit of village Jamani stood at the first place while Ravi of village Bijana of district Karnal secured the second place and Ankit of village Nidani  of secured the third place. In women marathon, Sonika of village Siwana of district Bhiwani secured the first place, while Princi of Rohtak secured the second place and Bharti of village Kami of district Sonipat, secured the third place. 
  • Similarly, in the 21km male marathon, Pritam of village Jamani Khera secured the first place, while Sudhir of village Gadhi of Hisar district secured the second place and Sahil of village Bastada of district Karnal secured the third place. In women category, Poonam of village Mokhara, district Rohtak secured the first place, while Renu of village Kauth Kalan of district Hisar secured the second place and Sonia of village Dahaula secured the third place. 
  • After the marathon, the Chief Minister redressed the grievances of people at rest house of Public Works Department in Jind and issued necessary directions to the concerned officers for its resolution. While redressing one complaint, the Chief Minister issued directions to the concerned to ensure that water should reach every tail end at any cost. And, if any complaint regarding water theft is received then immediate actions should be taken. To end water theft cases, the Deputy Commissioner, Jind, Mr Aditya Dahiya  patrolling at canals and Rajbahon  would be increased.
  • The folk singers Amit Dhul and Anu Kadian enterianed the audiences with their songs. The songs were enthused with patriotism.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 23 – The Election Commission of India has directed that no officer connected directly with elections would be allowed to continue in the present district of posting if he or she is posted in his or her home district. Similarly, if he or she has completed three years in that district during last four years or would be completing three years on or before May 31, 2019, they would not be allowed to continue in the present district of posting.
  • While stating this here today, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, Dr. Inder Jeet said that the Commission has directed to submit the compliance report latest by February 25, 2019.
  • These instructions would cover not only officers appointed for specific election duties like DEOs, Deputy DEOs, RO/AROs, EROs/AEROs, officers appointed as nodal officer of any specific election works, but also district officers like ADMs, SDMs, Deputy Collector/Joint Collector, Tehsildar, Block Development Officers or any other officer of equal rank directly deployed for election works.
  • These instructions would also be applicable to the police department officers such as Range IGs, DIGs, Commandants of State Armed Police, SSPs, SPs, Additional SPs, Sub-Divisional Head of Police, SHOs, Inspectors, Sub-Inspector, RIs/Sergeant Majors or equivalent ranks, who are responsible for security arrangement or deployment of police forces in the district at election time.
  • Hence, the said transfer policy is normally not applicable to officers/officials, who are not directly connected with elections like doctors, engineers, teachers and principals, he added.
  • Dr. Inder Jeet said that it has been directed that the officers and officials against whom the Commission had recommended disciplinary action in past and which is pending or which has resulted in a penalty or the officers who have been charged for any lapse in any election or election-related work in the past, would not be assigned any election-related duty.
  • The Commission has also desired that no officer or official, against whom a criminal case is pending in any court of law, be associated with or deployed on election-related duty.
  • Chandigarh, Feb 23- In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, special camp is going on till February 24, 2019 to register each and every eligible person as voter, who aged 18 years as on January 1, 2019.
  • While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, said that if any eligible person is not registered as voter yet, he/she can apply in Form-6 with two passport size photographs and Residence Proof both online at www.nvsp.in and offline.
  • He said that voter’s list is available with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) which will be used during the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2019. Voters can check the name, polling station, DEO and BLO contact number, by dialing or sending SMS on 1950, that is, the Toll Free Voter Helpline Number.
  • The spokesman said that all the BLOs will be present at their polling stations for facilitation. All political parties are also requested to appoint Booth Level Agents, if not appointed, and instruct them to be present at the polling stations for help to make error free voter list.
