  • Chandigarh, August 23 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today performed ‘asthi visarjan’ of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, Late. Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at two places in Haryana, in Pehowa (Kurukshetra) and in Hathnikund Barrage (Yamunanagar).
  • While interacting with media persons after performing ‘asthi visarjan’ of Mr. Vajpayee at Pehowa, district Kurukshetra today, the Chief Minister said, “Former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, Late. Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great leader who, by rising above the party, always served for the nation and to pay real tribute to him, we should follow the ideals of Mr. Vajpayee”.
  • Replying to a question, he said that after the approval of the Central Government, big projects would be named after Mr. Vajpayee in the state.
  • He said that since August 16, the entire nation is mourning the death of Mr. Vajpayee. His ashes are being immersed in 100 rivers across the country. He said that two Kalash Yatras were started in Haryana including one for Pehowa and other for Hathnikund Barrage from Bahadurgarh yesterday to immerse ashes today at two places.
  • Others present on the occasion at Pehowa included Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr O.P. Dhankar, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Krishan Kumar, State BJP President, Mr Subhash Barala, Member of Parliament, Mr. Ramesh Kaushik, MLAs Mr. Subhash Sudha, Mr. Dinesh Kaushik and other dignitaries.
