  • Chandigarh, Aug 28–The Haryana Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini, has said that State Shramik Divas would be celebrated on September 17 at Karnal to make labourers aware about their rights.
  • He made this announcement while addressing a press conference here today. Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajiv Jain, Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Mr. Mahavir Singh, and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Mr. Sameer Pal Srow, were also present on the occasion.
  • He said 24 schemes were being implemented by the Labour Welfare Board for the welfare of workers working in industrial and commercial institutions in the state and their dependents.
  • Under the Mukhya Mantri Shramik Samajik Suraksha Yojana,  financial assistance given to unregistered labourer has been increased to Rs 5 lakh in case of death due to arson or collapse of building and Rs 1 lakh in case of disability caused due to accident. Apart from this, the maximum monthly income limit for accessing the eligibility of labourers to avail facility of sewing machine, LTC and purchasing new bicycle has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000.
  • Mr Saini said the present state government had made a provision of extending the benefit of Kanyadan Yojana under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan’ up to three daughters. Apart from this, maternity financial assistance being given to registered women labourers for two daughters has been increased to three daughters and two sons.
  • A website www.hrylabour.gov.in  has been created to ensure that the benefits of all schemes of the Haryana Labour Welfare Board reached the labourers. Apart from this, the state government has announced to give 84 labour awards. These include one Shram Ratan Puraskar, two Shram Bhushan Puraskar, 57 Shram Veer Puraskar and 24 Shram Virangana Puraskar.
  • Under these, Rs 18.20 lakh has been distributed. The Board organised zonal sports competitions for workers working in industrial and commercial institutions of the districts of Yamunanagar, Panipat, Rohtak, Hisar and Faridabad. Apart from this, a state level sports competition was organised in Faridabad. The winning players were given cash prize of Rs 42 lakh, he added.
