Chandigarh, May 17 - The state government, led by the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, is committed to ensure that the willing migrant workers reach their home states.
Giving information in this regard, an official spokesperson said that after the announcement made by the Chief Minister to send eager migrant and agricultural labourers to their home states free of cost by the state government, more than 1,60,300 have boarded various Special Shramik Trains and buses to their home states at the expense of the Haryana government.
The spokesperson said that on May 16 migrant workers were sent to Uttar Pradesh and other states through three trains and 492 buses. He informed that migrant workers have been sent to various states through more than 3,100 buses till date out of which 781 buses have been sent to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, a total of 40 Special Shramik Trains have been sent to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh till date, including 28 trains to Bihar and 12 trains to Madhya Pradesh.
He said that the entire cost of trains and buses incurred to send migrant workers to their home states is being borne by the Haryana government. Free arrangements are being made by the government to keep these labourers in relief centres and to bring them to the railway stations and bus stations.
He informed that so far 75,600 migrant labourers have been sent from the state to Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, 37,866 migrant labourers have been sent to Bihar from Haryana and 14,940 migrant labourers have been sent from the state to Uttarakhand, while 19,982 migrant labourers have been sent to Madhya Pradesh.
Apart from this, 1,210 migrant labourers were sent to Jammu and Kashmir, 947 migrant labourers to Rajasthan, 336 migrant labourers to Maharashtra, 223 migrant labourers to Punjab, 79 migrant labourers to Himachal Pradesh, 62 migrant labourers to Assam, 27 migrant labourers to Gujarat, 169 migrant labourers to Delhi, 40 migrant labourers to Tamil Nadu, 57 migrant labourers to West Bengal and 20 migrant labourers to Andhra Pradesh.
Apart from this, he informed that about 8,500 migrant labourers who were leaving for various states collected passes from the concerned District Administration and have reached their home states. Similarly, about 11,000 natives of Haryana have been brought back from other states and the process is still on.
